Journey with the Seasons – Spring: Exploring the Wisdom of Traditional Chinese Medicine (In-Person Program)

April 6 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm EDT

We are all part of Nature. Just as Nature is constantly in a state of change, so are we. At times things may be happening in us that feel unfamiliar and confusing. Working with the Five Elements of Traditional Chinese Medicine, we can see how the forces of Nature act in the world and in our lives. Examining these five elements or phases of the year, we can experience how each element is expressed through Nature and through us. We can learn how our bodies and spirits are affected by each season. Utilizing this process, we can become more holistically in tune with our lives.

Traditional Chinese Medicine views the body as a microcosm of Nature. The body is a kingdom with the organs of the body acting as officials to minister the body through the various seasons of the year. The element within each season presents different facets of life for us to review and focus on for that time.

The elements of each season offer specific opportunities for self-awareness and growth. There is a specific color connected with each element along with specific organs of the body, tastes, emotions, and sounds. By working within each element of each season, we can dialogue with Nature, which becomes a tool for healing.

The Spring season/Wood element brings Spring energy, which spiritually calls us to take steps forward. We are invited to open to new ideas and new opportunities. The color for the season is green. The organs are the liver and gall bladder. The taste is sour. The emotion connected with wood is anger and the sound is shouting. Through the various characteristics of this season, participants will focus on what is new in life. What may be holding us back? What kind of sacred space are we willing to create to examine these and other questions? Participants will have time in Nature to reflect and write in their journals, as well as engage in small discussions and large group work.

Join us to gain a greater understanding of how the season affects you individually, have a better understanding when your system is out of balance, and walk away with tools to help in your day to day lives.
