Group Spiritual Direction 23/24 with Franklin Adkinson (In-Person Program)

An event every month that begins at 9:00 am on day Third of the month, repeating until Saturday, May 18, 2024
Group spiritual direction is a process in which people gather together on a regular basis to assist one another in an ongoing awareness of God (Spirit, Source, Creator, whatever your word is) in all of life. They are seeking support for their responsiveness to God and they agree to support others in that same responsiveness. Three conditions are essential to the life of the group. Members must agree to:
* commit themselves to an honest relationship with God
* to participate wholeheartedly in the group process through prayerful listening and response
* to open their spiritual journeys for consideration by others
This contemplative approach to spiritual direction is grounded in the model that originated at the Shalem Institute for Spiritual Formation in Washington, DC. The group is limited to five participants and is facilitated by Franklin Adkinson. The group will meet in-person at the Well.

FACILITATOR BIO:
Franklin Adkinson is an Episcopal layman with ecumenical and interfaith orientation, and a growing contemplative grounding. For 10 years he participated in and then facilitated group spiritual direction programs at the Shalem Institute for Spiritual Formation in Washington, DC. Franklin has established similar GSD offerings at the Well over the past ten years. He also has led several Well programs exploring attempts to harmonize science and faith. Franklin has served as president of Shalem’s Board of Directors, and has served on the Well’s Board as well. He is a professor of medicine at The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.
