SUMMARY:The "Nature" of Journaling (Online Program)
DESCRIPTION:Join this three-part journaling series to examine the nature of your spiritual awakening. Each session will engage participants in examining their personal journeys related to mountains\, valleys\, and streams. Each is a metaphor for life and provides powerful connections to our spiritual life. \nLike a mountain\, life is full of challenges\, and great accomplishments. Taking time to look at the step-by-step journey of growth in our lives provides spiritual fulfillment. \nValleys provide focus on what matters most by putting forth the effort to look within\, find the blessing\, and discover the light. Understanding times of questioning and uncertainty directs our spiritual development. \nStreams flow with many twists and turns. Some streams “go with the flow’\, while others are content to follow a path and let the current take its course. The path of a stream can be compared to our spiritual path\, one of richness and new life. \nYou are warmly invited to join experienced journaling facilitator\, Liz Neal\, to deepen your journaling practice or start a new one! Through guided practice to include a variety of readings and prompts participants will reflect\, journal\, and share responses to these aspects in nature. Simple journal strategies will be shared and modeled. \nNo previous writing or journaling experience is required. You may join for individual sessions or the entire series. \nDATE: Fridays\, 3/1\, 4/12\, 5/3/2024\n\nTIME: 10:00 – 11:30 AM ET\n\nCOST: $80 for the series of 3 sessions or $30 per session\n\nLOCATION: Zoom \nREGISTRATION is required; please register here. \nCANCELLATION POLICY: Please read our cancellation policy\, here. \nPREPARING FOR YOUR PROGRAM:\nYou will receive an email from Well for the Journey at least 2 days in advance of the start of your program. This email will include details to help you prepare for your program including any pertinent handouts\, location information\, and the Zoom Link for online programs. Please be sure you have received and read this email a minimum of 24 hours in advance of the start of the program. If you are unable to find the email\, please check your SPAM or JUNK email folders. \nFACILITATOR: Liz Neal \nFACILITATOR BIO:\nLiz has made journaling a routine practice for over 30 years. SUMMARY:Horizons Men's Group 2023-2024 (Hybrid Program)
DESCRIPTION:“Where else could I go to have such a deep conversation about the spiritual journey with other men?” \nThis question is heard regularly as the Well’s Horizons Men’s group gathers to have honest conversations about how we might live out our spirituality as men in the world – within our daily living. \nPast Horizons’ series have focused on themes such as the deconstruction and reconstruction of faith\, the first and second halves of life\, spirituality and imperfection\, why do bad things happen to good people\, and what can we learn from other faith traditions – just to name a few! \nThe 2023-24 Horizons discussions will be guided by Brian McLaren’s book\, Do I Stay Christian: A Guide for the Doubters\, the Disappointed\, and the Disillusioned. McLaren says\, “There is a way to say both ‘yes’ and ‘no’ to the question of staying Christian by shifting the focus from whether we stay Christian to how we stay human.” So\, it follows that the question\, “Are we living out of the truth of our tradition or from its doctrine\, dogma\, and “supposed to(s)?” is one for all faith journeys. We will use McLaren’s book to guide us into this wider conversation. \nIf you are looking for a community where hard questions are welcomed and explored from the unique perspective of the male spiritual journey\, we have a place for you. Join Greg Cochran\, the Well’s Executive Director\, for a free online information session to learn more about Horizons and see if this community is what you might be looking for – Tuesday\, September 12th at 7:00 PM ET. \nHorizons Men’s Group will meet on the second Tuesday in October and then the third Tuesday thereafter (November – June)\, from 7:00pm-8:30pm ET. Our plan is to meet in-person with the option to “zoom in” for those who may not live close by or for those for whom “zooming” is more comfortable. Come check us out! \nDATE: Tuesdays\, 10/10\, 11/21\, 12/19/2023 and 1/16\, 2/20\, 3/19\, 4/16\, 5/21\, 6/18/2024\n\nTIME: 7:00 – 8:30 PM ET\n\nCOST: $195  \nREGISTRATION is required; please register here.\n\nCANCELLATION POLICY: Please read our cancellation policy\, here.\n \nLOCATION: Well for the Journey – 120 W. Seminary Ave\, Lutherville-Timonium\, MD 21093 and Zoom: You will receive an email from Well for the Journey the week of the program\, (usually 2 days in advance) with the Zoom Link. Please be sure you have received and read this email a minimum of 24 hours in advance of the start of the program. If you are unable to find the email\, please search your email folders\, including your spam folder. Thank you.\n\nFACILITATOR: Greg Cochran\n\nFACILITATOR BIO:\nGreg has been the Executive Director at Well for the Journey since 2010. He is a graduate of Clemson University and Southern Seminary. Greg was Associate Pastor at Woodbrook Baptist Church serving from 1988-2022. He also is a program/retreat facilitator and a spiritual companion.
