SUMMARY:FREE: Death Café at Well for the Journey (In-Person in Lutherville\, MD)
DESCRIPTION:Have you ever wanted to talk about death but were afraid to bring up the subject with friends or family? At a Death Cafe people\, often strangers\, gather to eat cake\, drink tea and discuss death. \nWell for the Journey is pleased to sponsor a Death Café with Sam Stebbins\, certified end-of-life doula\, grief educator and coach\, interspiritual counselor\, retired family physician\, and experienced Death Café facilitator. \nA Death Cafe is a gathering where people discuss their feelings and thoughts about death and their experiences with death. Hot tea and sweet treats are included to remind us of comfort and sweetness even in difficult times. \nThe discussions that will unfold cover a wide range of topics related to death\, dying\, and grief based on what participants bring. Please be aware that it is not a grief support group. A Death Café is simply an opportunity to normalize conversations about death\, which is an essential part of every life\, and to increase awareness of death with a view to helping make the most of our time on this earth. \nThere are no expectations except to be supportive of each other and open to everyone’s individual interpretations\, ideas\, hopes\, fears\, and beliefs about this life and death situation we are all currently living in. As Marcus Aurelius said: “It is not death that man should fear\, but he should fear never beginning to live.”  \nPlease bring a spirit of curiosity and wonder to explore these topics in the comfort and intimacy of the Well. This gathering is FREE\, but space is limited. Please register early and let us know if your plans change so we can offer your seat to someone else. \nFor more information about Death Cafés\, please visit their website. \nDATE: Wednesday\, May 6\, 2026 \nTIME: 7:00 – 8:30 PM \nCOST: FREE \nLOCATION: Well for the Journey – 120 W. SUMMARY:Group Spiritual Direction: Listening for the Sacred Together (In-Person with online sessions in winter)
DESCRIPTION:“I have been a part of this group for two years. Once a month\, I find respite in my busy life to connect with the divine as I understand it. Cathy holds a container that allows for deep reflection in community with other spiritual seekers.” – Rev. Karyn Marsh \n________________________________________________________ \n“We are all just walking each other home.” \n– Rumi \nDo you yearn for a deeper connection to God\, Spirit\, the Divine? Perhaps you sense an inkling that there is something more wanting to be explored – whether you come from a formal faith tradition or none at all. \nGroup Spiritual Direction (GSD) offers a safe\, sacred space for individuals to gather in community\, slow down\, and listen deeply—for the movement of the Spirit in their lives and in each other. Unlike therapy or problem-solving groups\, spiritual direction is a contemplative practice rooted in the belief that the Divine is already present and available in each person’s journey. \nIn this group\, faith traditions vary in formality and intensity\, some may have none\, and their name for God may differ\, but all are deeply committed to exploring their spiritual paths and supporting the spiritual journeys of each group member. The intent is not to ‘fix’ or advise\, but to listen attentively\, and as members caringly share what they feel and hear\, they help each other look\, with a finer lens\, at their own spiritual relationship. Gently guided by long-time Spiritual Director\, Cathy Rosensteel\, the group cultivates compassion\, connection\, and clarity\, helping each person notice the movement of Spirit in their lives. \nSeptember through November and March through May\, Cathy’s group starts their time together with a few minutes of conversation in the kitchen at Well for the Journey. During the colder months\, December – February\, they gather on Zoom from the coziness of their homes. When at the Well\, the group transitions from the kitchen to the living room to form a contemplative\, confidential and sacred listening circle. Using the GSD process formed at the Shalem Institute for Spiritual Formation in Washington\, DC.\, Cathy invites the group with an opening reflection from a variety of sources\, such as\, Scripture\, poetry\, texts\, and/or prose and a time of gentle silence. When ready\, members share a response flowing from their deep listening and curiosity. This simple format\, repeated throughout each session\, invites meaningful conversation and deepening. The session closes with the sharing of prayer intentions. \nWhether you’re seeking a deeper relationship with the Sacred by whatever name\, navigating a life transition\, in need of discernment\, curious about that nagging inkling\, or simply yearning to be seen and heard in a soulful way\, GSD provides a space for deep listening\, soulful reflection\, and support for your unfolding path. \nIf you would like to join Cathy’s group or simply want to know more\, please contact the Well at 410-296-9355 or email us at programming@wellforthejourney.org. Please provide your name and phone number and Cathy will be in touch to discuss your interest. \n________________________________________________________ \n\n“I have been a member of Cathy’s spiritual direction group since the fall of 2020. Each session I jot down what speaks to me. Recently I went back and typed up my notes and then created this word cloud. Every session sparks deeper thinking and honest reflection for me. I look forward to our gathering each month.” – Becky Boynton \n \nDATES (In-Person at the Well): Saturdays – 9/13\, 10/11\, 11/8/25 and 3/14\, 4/11\, 5/9/26 \nDATES (Online via Zoom): Saturdays – 12/13/25 and 1/10\, 2/14/26 \nTIME: 8:30 – 11:30 AM \nCOST: $250 \nLOCATION: Well for the Journey – 120 W. Seminary Ave\, Lutherville-Timonium\, MD 21093 and ZOOM \nTO REGISTER: Please contact the Well at 410-296-9355 or email us at programming@wellforthejourney.org.  We will put you in touch with Cathy so that you may chat and determine if  this program is a mutual fit.  Once that happens and if you’d like to move forward\, we will provide you with a sign up link. \nFACILITATOR: Cathy Rosensteel \nFACILITATOR BIO:\nCathy facilitates group spiritual direction in the Shalem tradition at The Well. She has an M.A. in Spiritual Direction and Pastoral Care from Loyola University Maryland. Kindled by a week-long silent Ignatian retreat\, she developed a deep appreciation for silence and the Spiritual Exercises. Furthering her interest\, she completed the 19th Annotation of the Ignatian Spiritual Exercises in Everyday Life. Her work in this area includes leading retreats on finding silence in everyday living and walking the labyrinth. Through private practice\, Cathy is honored to provide individual spiritual direction in the Middle River and Towson areas. \nCathy’s background includes teaching teacher education candidates and directing the Special Education programs at Loyola University Maryland. She also had a notable career developing innovative programs for students with special needs\, as a teacher and administrator with the Baltimore City Public School System. \nDrawn to the outdoors\, Cathy treasures time at home on Seneca Creek with her husband and dog. She enjoys designing engraved affirmation stones\, gardening\, and swimming. Often\, she can be found happily reading\, near or in a body of water\, or just sitting\, very still.

SUMMARY:Rest as Sacred Ground: Replenishing the Ones Who Hold Space (An In-Person Retreat Day for Spiritual Directors/Companions)
DESCRIPTION:Those who hold space for others often carry an unseen weight — offering steady presence\, deep listening\, and compassionate accompaniment day after day. This daylong retreat is an invitation for spiritual directors/companions\, therapists\, and all who offer the gift of sacred companioning to step out of holding and into being held — a day of renewal and replenishment in community and grounded presence. \nSustainable presence begins with embodied centeredness. This is the shared intention for our time together. Through a gentle rhythm of brief teaching\, embodied practices\, guided Yoga Nidra meditation\, vocal toning using our own voices to create healing vibrations for our bodies and spirits\, restorative sound bath\, journaling\, and small group conversation\, you will be offered space to restore your inner reserves and reconnect with sustainable presence. These practices offer accessible ways to soothe the nervous system and tend our souls. \nA community circle of shared reflection will create space to speak honestly about both the beauty and the energetic demands of this sacred work. Practical daily clearing practices will be introduced to support ongoing integration beyond the retreat. This experience is contemplative\, experiential\, and communal — designed to offer simple\, resonant tools while deepening rest\, clarity\, and grounded resilience for those who serve through presence. \nRest is not a luxury for those who hold space—it is the sacred ground from which it is offered. Come as you are. A simple lunch of soup and bread will be provided. \nDATE: Thursday\, May 14\, 2026 \nTIME: 9:30 AM – 4:00 PM \nCOST: $70.00 \nLOCATION: Well for the Journey – 120 W. Seminary Ave\, Lutherville-Timonium\, MD 21093 \nREGISTRATION is required; please register here. \nIMPORTANT: You will receive an email from programming@wellforthejourney.org at least 24 hours in advance of the start of your program. SUMMARY:The Body Holds\, The Body Heals: Restoring Balance\, Releasing Stress\, Creating Calming Practices (In-Person Program)
DESCRIPTION:Are you going through your day feeling overly sensitive\, too reactive\, or easily triggered? Or do you feel numb most days\, simply going through the motions? By the time we are adults\, most of us are walking warriors\, holding stress and trauma in our bodies as we’ve had to survive and simply soldier on. In the short run\, our bodies may be able to do this\, holding it together to get through. However\, over time\, we cannot keep up this pace. Our bodies become overwhelmed as they hold our stressed experiences. They develop pain\, fatigue\, injury\, or disease\, as they can no longer repress all they have held over time. \nJoin certified Somatic Experience Practitioner\, Emily Kearns\, for this retreat that will give your body a break and invite it to begin to rest and heal. The Body Holds\, The Body Heals program provides a safe container for participants to begin to: \n\nidentify how our bodies hold whatever overwhelms such as grief\, trauma\, and stress;\nrelate to our bodies as a resource for calming\, metabolizing\, and integrating what has been held; and\nrespond differently to past and current stress through somatic (body-focused) practices and rituals.\n\nThrough guided meditation\, sitting or walking in nature\, art journaling including collage\, and group sharing\, you will grow your self-care toolbox to begin to experience your body as a resource — reducing stress and generating relaxation in body\, mind\, and spirit. \n\nPlease bring a journal for your reflections. We will be exploring different ways of checking in with and resting our bodies. All of the activities can occur seated\, but if you want the option to lie down or sit on the floor\, please bring a yoga mat\, pillow\, and blanket. \nPlease bring a bag lunch. Coffee\, tea\, and light snacks will be provided. \nDATE: Sunday\, May 17\, 2026 \nTIME: 10:00 AM – 3:30 PM \nCOST: $65 \nLOCATION: Well for the Journey – 120 W. Seminary Ave\, Lutherville-Timonium\, MD 21093 \nREGISTRATION for this program is required and will close on 5/8/26. Please register early for planning purposes. Thank you!  REGISTER HERE. \nIMPORTANT: You will receive an email from programming@wellforthejourney.org at least 24 hours in advance of the start of your program. If you are unable to find the email\, please check your SPAM or JUNK email folders. This email will include details to help you prepare for your program including any pertinent handouts\, location information\, and the ZOOM link for online programs. Please be sure you have received and read this email a minimum of 24 hours in advance of the start of the program. Thank you! \nFACILITATOR: Emily Kearns \nFACILITATOR BIO: \nEmily Kearns is a Somatic Experience Practitioner (SEP) and Reiki Master\, working with individuals to help identify and reduce stress and trauma – anything that overwhelms – held in the body. Her caregiving experience with her parents\, who lived with dementia\, sensitized her to how the body holds and also\, how the body heals. Her Reiki volunteer work in Boston’s Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital’s Integrative Medicine Program\, further awakened her to the power of the body to be a healing\, integrating resource. Emily earned her doctorate in sociology\, focusing her study and teaching on the body\, dance\, and ritual. She is also an installation artist creating two events: Dementia’s Way; and The Sacred Heart of Culture. She is founder of Revive and Thrive\, supporting caregivers/care partners as they experience loss\, grief\, joy\, and cultivate presence.

SUMMARY:Horizons Men's Group 2025-2026 (In-Person)
DESCRIPTION:Most men do not feel they can talk freely about their spiritual journey. At Well For The Journey\, we feel differently. The Horizons Men’s Group at the Well is a place where honest conversations take place about how we live out our spirituality uniquely as men in the world – within our daily living. \nGreg Cochran\, Executive Director at the Well\, has been facilitating Horizons for over ten years. Past discussions have explored a wide range of topics including the deconstruction and reconstruction of faith\, navigating the first and second halves of life\, spirituality and imperfection\, why do bad things happen to good people\, what is Truth\, and what can we learn from other faith traditions – just to name a few! \nThis season\, the wisdom of Parker Palmer will inform our conversation through two of his books: \nA Hidden Wholeness: The Journey Toward an Undivided Life – explores the concept of living an “undivided life”—where one’s inner truth aligns with their outer actions and roles. \nLet Your Life Speak: Listening for the Voice of Vocation – explores what it means to find one’s true calling by deeply listening to one’s inner self and aligning with one’s authentic nature\, emphasizing that vocation isn’t a specific job title\, but rather a way of living authentically and embracing our unique gifts and limitations. \nDue to high interest\, we are pleased to offer two monthly groups this year – both graciously led by Greg! The Tuesday evening group will meet in-person at the Well and the Thursday evening group will meet online via Zoom. \nIf you are looking for a community where difficult questions are welcomed and explored from the unique perspective of male spirituality\, we have a place for you in Horizons. \nThis registration is for the in-person session on Tuesday evenings. \nDATES: Tuesdays – 10/14\, 11/18\, 12/16/25\, and 1/20\, 2/17\, 3/17\, 4/21\, 5/19\, and 6/9/26 \nTIME: 7:00 – 8:30 PM \nCOST: $200 \nLOCATION: Well for the Journey – 120 W. Seminary Ave\, Lutherville-Timonium\, MD 21093 \nREGISTRATION is required; please register here. \nIMPORTANT: You will receive an email from programming@wellforthejourney.org at least 24 hours in advance of the start of your program. SUMMARY:The Gift of Deep Rest: An Hour of Yoga Nidra Meditation (Online Program)
DESCRIPTION:What comes to mind when you see the word “yoga?” Downward Dogs? Sun Salutations? Sitting on the floor with your legs in a pretzel? Well\, think again! \nYoga Nidra means “yogic sleep” and the only movement involved is whatever it takes for you to recline in a comfy chair or lie down on a bed\, sofa\, or mat on the floor. This is a guided mindfulness meditation practice that helps to relax the mind and body by simply listening to the teacher’s prompts and resting in stillness. One hour of yoga nidra is said to be as restorative as four hours of sleep. \nThe yoga wisdom teachers of the past knew the importance of rest and relaxation for health and wellbeing and passed this practice down through the ages to us. As the mind slows down\, the whirlwind of thoughts holding our attention begin to move away from us as we float in the space between waking and sleeping. As you disengage from stress-producing thoughts\, the body\, mind\, and spirit begin to rest and heal naturally. Modern research continues to affirm the benefits of Yoga Nidra\, showing significant reductions in anxiety\, stress\, and depression after guided mediation. Many participants report improved sleep\, a deep sense of calm\, and renewed energy. \nRather than driving to a yoga studio\, lying on the floor\, and driving back home again\, the Well invites you to rest comfortably in your own home (in your PJs with your camera off\, if you wish!). Suggestions for your comfort include: \n· A quiet place to lie down or recline\n· A pillow for your head and under your knees\n· A blanket and socks for warmth\n· If desired\, an eye mask or pillow to block light\n· A glass of water nearby \nThe Well is delighted to continue offering this deeply healing and restorative practice in collaboration with certified Kripalu Mindful Outdoor Guide\, Yoga Instructor\, and I Am Yoga Nidra Facilitator\, Jamila Keita. If you are new to meditation\, have never tried or been successful at meditation\, or are just curious about yoga without any yoga poses\, we encourage you to give Yoga Nidra a try. You will be amazed at how easily you will achieve a meditative state with Jamila’s gentle guidance and soothing voice. \nPlus – Never Miss A Session! Each Yoga Nidra session will be recorded. The sessions are being offered twice a month on a Monday and Tuesday evening. A link to the recording will be emailed to registered participants the following day and will be available for three (3) days. You can listen as often as you like until the link expires after 3 days. \nGive yourself (and maybe a loved one!) the gift of deep rest and relaxation. Your body\, mind\, and spirit will thank you! \nHear from Jamila in this video where she describes in great detail what Yoga Nidra is and its benefits for mind\, body\, and spirit! \n\n \n  \nDATES: Mondays – 3/9\, 4/6\, 5/4\, 6/8/26 and Tuesdays – 3/24\, 4/21\, 5/26\, 6/30/26 \nTIME: 7:30 – 8:30 PM ET \nCOST: $20 \nLOCATION: ZOOM \nREGISTRATION is required; please register here. Thank you! \nFACILITATOR: Jamila Keita \nFACILITATOR BIO: \nHi! My name is Evangeline “Jamila” Keita. I’ve been practicing yoga for almost 25 years and decided to teach yoga as my “retirement job.” It was during my yoga training (YT200) that I was introduced to Yoga Nidra. Immediately after completing YT200 in 2014\, I took my first Yoga Nidra training. Since that time\, I’ve taken subsequent trainings in Yoga Nidra in 2017 and 2021. I love this practice. \nDuring the shutdown\, I found “nature therapy.” This led me to complete a course through “The Kripalu School of Outdoor Leadership” and become a KMOG (Kripalu Mindful Outdoor Guide). \nI currently teach two yoga classes per week on Zoom. Each class includes poses and a short Yoga Nidra session. Since 2022\, I have provided weekly Yoga Nidra sessions for Hopewell Cancer Support Center and occasional Mindful Outdoor Experiences (MOEs). Additionally\, I work for Nature Worx\, a non-profit that provides MOEs to persons in recovery and the general public. \nI never imagined this second career as it is\, but it seems like a natural evolution to me. I hope you enjoy my offerings.

SUMMARY:Who Do I Say I Am? - Giving Voice to Our Sacred Story (In-Person Program)
DESCRIPTION:I would like to express my deep gratitude to Rev. Sandra. The experience was both insightful and deeply moving.  Listening to each woman share her journey and perspective reminded me of the power that comes from showing up with authenticity and courage. The honesty\, care\, and openness that filled the space created a truly meaningful sense of belonging and connection. It was a gift to witness and be part of such a compassionate and passionate community. I left feeling inspired\, grounded\, and more committed to honoring my own story while making room for the stories of others. – Laura Lindamore \nGreat opportunity for a multicultural spiritual experience that was a beautiful way for soul sisters to connect\, commune and share our stories. – Bev Gorman \nRev. Sandra was a great facilitator and so at ease\, compassionate\, loving\, and Present. Her demeanor set the tone for our time together and for all of us. I’m glad I decided to say “yes” to this workshop! – Freda Marie Brown \n**************************************************************************************************************** \nWhen we reject the single story\, when we realize that there is never a single story…we regain a kind of paradise. – Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie \nWe are thrilled to welcome back Rev. Sandra Dorsainvil for an expanded version of her popular retreat—Who Do I Say I Am? Sandra first offered this retreat at the Well as a half-day experience that left participants feeling inspired\, grounded\, and yearning for more. \nOur lives are not linear\, and the world is often too quick to dictate or impose its own lenses on the personal stories we carry. Yet the power of a person’s voice is theirs alone\, and our hearts are privileged to receive their testimonies. We are more than a name\, title\, or circumstance. In this day-long retreat\, we will explore how to choose a story to share that honors our identity\, and how to listen intentionally—without judgement— to the stories of others. \nJesus asked Peter\, “Who do you say that I am?” We are invited into that same sacred question. Let us dare to answer it as we affirm our voice\, our identity\, and our need to belong. \nSandra will gently invite participants to engage in a variety of contemplative practices\, including journaling\, meditative reflection\, creative art\, quiet sitting\, prayer walking\, and group conversation alongside the sanctity of telling and receiving personal\, single stories. As the day unfolds\, participants will be encouraged to courageously express their own voice in answering the question “Who do I say I am?” within a safe and sacred community. \nHow one chooses to share their chosen story is up to them. It may take the form of poetry\, prose\, drawing\, painting\, dance\, or even silent mime. As God’s beloved\, how we receive what is before us is its own testimony. \nIt is up to us to honor our story and share it as we wish it to be remembered. You are warmly welcomed to join Sandra and fellow seekers for this meaningful day of reflection\, creativity\, and connection—a journey of listening\, belonging\, and owning who you are. Please bring a bag lunch. Snacks and drinks will be provided. \nDATE: Saturday\, May 30\, 2026 \nTIME: 9:30 AM – 4:00 PM \nCOST: $70 \nREGISTRATION for this program is required and will close on 5/21/26. Please register early for planning purposes. Thank you! REGISTER HERE. \nLOCATION: Well for the Journey – 120 W. SUMMARY:Anam Cara – A Soul Care Group for Spiritual Caregivers (Online Program - Morning Group)
DESCRIPTION:“I have appreciated having a space with people\, colleagues…The ability to walk and journal\, having that time carved out so other things don’t get in the way of it is helpful.” – Rev Andy McClain\n \n“I needed a community where I could be myself as an African American woman…Our Anam Cara group became the place where I could be just that. Authenticity and integrity seemed to be primary values for the group from the first time I entered.” – Rev. Freda Marie Brown\n \n“…I loved the opportunity to share new thoughts and ideas as I underwent my own spiritual transformation. I loved the openness and the refreshing way we all supported each other’s voices\, accepting with interest and love whatever was being offered\, without judgement.  – Rev. Freda Marie Brown\n \nI value opportunities for creativity\, contemplation\, and connection…and for curiosity about how it goes with each participant: How goes retirement? How goes vocational discernment? How goes caring for loved ones? How goes raising children?” – Rev. Clare Petersberger\n \n“Our Anam Cara gatherings remind me to mark the time through the changing seasons of the year and of our lives with soul friends. For all of these are holy things we will not\, cannot\, find again.” – Rev Clare Petersberger\n  \nCaring for others can be deeply meaningful—and deeply depleting. For ministers\, chaplains\, spiritual companions\, and others who offer soul care\, the act of holding sacred space for others can come at the cost of your own spiritual nourishment. The Well’s Anam Cara (Soul Friend) Group is a space created just for you—a place to receive the care you regularly encourage for others – soul care. \nThis small group\, sacred community welcomes spiritual caregivers (active\, retired\, or on sabbatical) to rest\, reflect\, and be. There are no roles to fill or responsibilities to carry. Here\, you are invited to water your own soul\, speak freely or remain silent\, and simply show up as you are—without judgment or expectation. \nWe are honored to welcome back Cecilia Amaral as facilitator for another year of Anam Cara. Cecilia has a deep commitment to encourage others to nurture authentic and thriving relationships with themselves\, others\, and their environments. Cecilia brings extensive experience working with spiritual caregivers and clergy from many faith traditions on an individual basis\, in groups\, and with denominational staff. She is uniquely gifted in holding space for those navigating the weight and complexity of spiritual companionship and leadership today. \nDue to high interest\, we are delighted to offer two online groups this year! Both groups will meet on the first Monday of the month\, October through June (with adjustments for holy days and holidays\, as needed): \n\nMorning Group – 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM ET (This website page you are reading right now is for the morning group!)\nEvening Group – 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM ET\n\n\nEach session follows a spacious rhythm: \n\nA check-in time with one another\nA reflection prompt offered by Cecila\n30 minutes of quiet\, off-screen personal reflection\nOptional sharing and a closing blessing\n\n\nCome be part of one of these nurturing circles. Let this be a season where your soul is tended with the same compassionate soul care you offer others. \nPlease Note: This registration is for the Morning Sessions. \nDATES: Mondays – 10/6\, 11/3\, 12/1/25 and 1/5\, 2/2\, 3/2\, 4/6\, 5/4\, 6/1/26 \nTIME: 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM ET \nCOST: $95 \nLOCATION: ZOOM \nREGISTRATION is required; please register here. \nIMPORTANT: You will receive an email from programming@wellforthejourney.org at least 24 hours in advance of the start of your program. SUMMARY:Following in the Footsteps of the Monks’ Walk for Peace: Using Mindful Self-Compassion During Challenging Times (In-Person)
DESCRIPTION:Our nervous systems\, bodies\, hearts\, and minds are being assaulted almost daily by the pace of change in the world and daily encounters with pain\, uncertainty\, and suffering. The ancient practices of mindfulness can be a balm to modern overwhelm to help us find more balance and ease in our daily walk. \nThe Monks’ Walk for Peace offered us a gentle but powerful witness: a steady\, embodied practice of presence\, compassion\, and kindness to all people. Step by step\, the monks modeled what it means to walk through the world with mindful awareness and deep care—for others and for oneself. These workshops are an invitation to carry on the monks’ simple yet powerful teachings with the guidance of a highly experienced mindfulness teacher\, Amy Bloom Connolly. \nThe Well is delighted to welcome Amy\, the Founder and Director of the Center for Mindful Awareness in the Baltimore/DC region\, whose mission is to bring mindfulness into the lives of under-resourced people and the professionals who support them. This program\, based on decades of Amy’s studying and teaching mindfulness to others\, invites us to respond skillfully\, rather than react automatically to what arises with greater self-compassion\, equanimity and joy. Designed to be reflective\, interactive\, and experiential\, these gatherings will weave together mindfulness practices that are accessible\, heartfelt\, and nurturing. \nParticipants will learn how to weave the simplicity of ancient practices and wisdom into the modern and complex challenges of contemporary life—building continuity\, practice\, and community. This program can benefit both new and experienced meditators. Come as you are to explore\, learn\, and practice in the safe and sacred community at the Well. \nYou are welcome to attend one\, two\, or all three of these sessions as your schedule allows. \nDATE: Wednesdays – 6/3\, 6/17\, 7/1/2026 \nTIME: 1:00 – 3:00 PM \nCOST: $40 per Session or $105 for All Three Sessions \nLOCATION: Well for the Journey – 120 W. SUMMARY:Summoning Summer: Writing Its Wonders and Woes in Poetry (In-Person Program)
DESCRIPTION:“I enjoyed the class very much with Kitty’s leadership. She made the class fun and I did not feel intimidated. I had fun with the other ladies in the class collaborating during the group exercise. I am grateful to have joined the class.” – a past participant \n“I loved writing out the group poem for us to copy and take. This felt so good.” – a past participant \n**************************************************************************** \nAh Summertime! \nVacation. Family celebrations. Oceans and swimming pools. Earth erupting with gardens. Watermelon juice leaking onto redwood tables. Siestas in the sweet gum shade. Sun rearing high overhead\, Apollo’s horses driven by an August- bored teen. Camden Yards little-league dreams. But then there are also Thunderstorms\, Mosquitoes\, Complaining Kids\, and Itching Sunburn. \nSummer’s rich and deep associations\, especially those never-ending days of childhood summers\, plead for poems from us. \nIn this program\, poet and educator Kitty Yanson invites us to explore the archetype of summer with its many themes and symbolisms. Then we’ll look at some famous poems about summer\, paying particular attention to the concrete images that carry meaning and feeling to the reader. \nThrough guided journaling and creative prompts\, we will generate ideas and begin crafting poems. As a group\, we will collaborate on a communal haiku-series hymn to summer and then create our own unique personal summer manifesto. \nWe are delighted to welcome Kitty back to the Well for her second poetry workshop! No prior writing experience is needed. Just bring a notebook\, a pencil\, and a willingness to cast few spells summoning this season of heart and memory. \nDATE: Saturday\, June 6\, 2026 \nTIME: 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM \nCOST: Please choose the ticket option that works best for you! See registration link below for options. \nREGISTRATION is required; please register here. \nLOCATION: Well for the Journey – 120 W. Thank you! \nFACILITATOR: Kitty Yanson \nFACILITATOR BIO: \nOld family stories told about one as a child have the resonance of myth. One does not know how much is actual truth and how much to explain a forming personality or to illustrate the values of one’s family. Nevertheless\, there is one about me: walking back from my grandmother’s house\, the four-year-old me asked my father\, “Where do thoughts go when you stop thinking them?” My fate was sealed: I became the family philosopher whether I wanted to live it out or not (which I kind of did). So I grew up studying art and stories and my own inner life and the tickings of peoples’ minds. Through it all\, I’m still wondering where thoughts go when you stop thinking them. \nI recently retired from a 35-year career as an English teacher at Mercy High School where I taught creative writing\, journalism\, English\, and theatre. My formal education includes a BA in English Literature from Mt. St. Agnes College and a MS in Professional Writing\, Imaginative Concentration from Towson University. Prior to that I worked at the Baltimore Theatre Project and also free-lanced gardening and catering. While teaching\, I found that the creativities required for teaching and for writing really come from about the same place; retirement has happily diverted the channel back into writing and my new love\, painting. I have also been a member of one of Well for the Journey’s Group Spiritual Direction gatherings and previously led a program about exploring dream imagery with a Jungian lens.

SUMMARY:Sound Soul Weaving: A Seated Sound Bath Experience (In-Person Program)
DESCRIPTION:The practice of sound bathing has gained popularity recently but is actually a healing practice that is thousands of years old with deep roots in cultures around the world. Jenny Ehrhardt has been facilitating sound offerings for several years\, incorporating her first love as an herbalist into all that she offers. Integrating sound using crystal chakra bowls\, bells\, song\, and rattles with plants and sweetness from the earth\, opens our hearts and nourishes the soul for the healing of the world. What a perfect combination for the Well community and all who seek soul nourishment and healing for self and others! \nWe are thrilled to welcome Jenny back to the Well for another session of healing\, renewal and nourishment. Jenny will offer a time of stillness\, sacred listening\, reflection\, and alignment with spirit that invites us to take care of ourselves as well as send love and peace out into the world through our vibrations\, prayers and the collective spiritual intention of a sacred community. \nYou will be seated for this session which will begin with a time of introduction and honoring of each participant\, inviting plant spirit connection to our intentions/prayers and sound healing meditation. Healing sound helps break up trauma in the body and assists in releasing whatever no longer serves us. This is so important in our culture and world today. At the end of the session\, Jenny will share seasonal herbal tea and a sweet offering to help integrate and embody the experience. \nWe are thrilled that Jenny found the Well (literally in her own neighborhood!) and is sharing her gifts of love and presence now as part of the Well community. We invite you to join Jenny and trust this ancient healing process of soul sound weaving for the renewal of your body\, mind and spirit and the nourishment of your soul. \nPlease don’t delay! Jenny’s Sound Soul Weaving sessions at the Well sell out every time! \nDATE: Sunday\, June 14\, 2026 \nTIME: 2:00 – 4:00 PM \nCOST: $50 \nLOCATION: Well for the Journey – 120 W. Thank you! \nFACILITATOR: Jenny Ehrhardt \nFACILITATOR BIO: \nI have been fortunate to work with two other women facilitating sound offerings on the Eastern Shore. I have seen so many beautiful effects this work has had on so many people\, including myself. I feel honored to be working with the bowls and other sounds to help connect us to something much deeper\, Ourselves. Working with all ages on many different levels\, I see the peace come over most people in a very surprising way. I have been called to create small\, intimate sound offerings right here in my hometown. I am grateful to have found Well for the Journey\, which has become such a sacred place for me. I work deeply with the plants as well and had a small shoppe in Hampden for over 10 years. I have been called to service and I love plants\, sound\, and people who are open to change and learning and being in a community without judgement. Pure Hearts\, I feel this at Well For the Journey and look forward to connecting more and sharing and learning through sound and the plants.

SUMMARY:Introduction to Focused Music Imagery: A Journey of Discovery Through Music and Image (In-Person Program)
DESCRIPTION:Images—like those that arise in dreams—can help us make sense of experiences that are difficult to put into words. Focused Music Imagery (FMI) is often described as “dreaming to music while awake.” Through guided listening\, imagery\, drawing/writing\, and reflection\, participants are invited to discover personal meaning and connection within their own inner experience. \nJoin Meagan Hughes\, a Licensed Professional Music Therapist\, as she introduces the foundations of FMI at the Well. This program blends information-sharing with a guided\, experiential session\, offering participants a first-hand glimpse into how music and imagery can work together to support insight\, emotional awareness\, and personal growth. \nThe session will begin with an invitation to choose an image from those provided that resonates with you. The chosen image and your associations with that image will serve as a gentle focus for the experience. After an overview of FMI\, Meagan will guide the group into a brief relaxation supported by carefully selected music. In a relaxed state and with a chosen focus in mind\, you will be invited to notice your body\, emotions\, and any images that arise—whether visual\, sensory\, or felt. After several minutes of imaging\, you will be invited to write or draw what comes to you and then reflect together as a group. \nFMI is an active and intentional practice. While music alone can soothe and relax\, FMI holds broader possibilities\, inviting participants to explore what is most needed in this moment and helping us connect with the emotional and intuitive parts of ourselves that arise naturally through experiences with music and imagery. \nNo musical or artistic experience is needed. This program is open to anyone interested in creative self-exploration and the transformational possibilities of music. Simply bring your curiosity and the open ears of your heart. To learn more about FMI\, visit Meagan’s website at: https://www.musicalmethodsmt.com/. \nDATE: Friday\, June 19\, 2026 \nTIME: 10:00 – 11:30 AM \nCOST: $35 \nLOCATION: Well for the Journey – 120 W. Seminary Ave\, Lutherville-Timonium\, MD 21093 \nREGISTRATION for this program is required and will close on 6/15/26. Please register early for planning purposes. SUMMARY:In the Company of Francis of Assisi: A Men’s Retreat at Well for the Journey (In-Person Program)
DESCRIPTION:It happens to be one of the romantic ironies of the Middle Ages that one of the most celebrated saints of his day was one who most wanted to be forgotten. Francis of Assisi stripped himself of his fine clothes\, put on a coarse and patched robe\, eschewed the wealth of his family\, and abandoned social status to live with and like the beggars. Rather than earning the ridicule and ostracization accorded to the beggars of his day\, however\, his followers became so numerous that the church asked him to form an order\, one that has produced many other saints and that perdures to this day. \nFrancis was not a theologian or scholar of any kind. It is also well known that he was not a priest. And\, although some biographers maintain that he may have been ordained a deacon\, the earliest ones do not mention it and there is no record of his ordination. He authored no theological or spiritual treatises. Yet the passion and depth of his love for God\, and the experience he had of God’s presence in people and all of God’s creation\, is legendary even in the 21st century. It is available to us today. \nThe focus of this day of retreat will not be to learn facts about St. Francis\, or about God for that matter. It will be to meditate with Francis\, to invite him to join us in our meditation\, and to experience God’s presence and love the way he did. The day will include brief presentations\, time for silence and reflection\, and opportunities to share with other men on the journey. If that intrigues you\, come join us for a day with St. Francis of Assisi. \nPlease bring a bag lunch. Snacks and beverages will be available. \nDATE: Saturday\, June 27\, 2026 \nTIME: 9:30 AM – 4:00 PM \nCOST: Please choose the option that works best for you! (see registration link for options.) \nLOCATION: Well for the Journey – 120 W. Please be sure you have received and read this email a minimum of 24 hours in advance of the start of the program. Thank you! \nFACILITATOR: Frank Laws \nFACILITATOR BIO: \nFrank Laws is a husband (Duffy’s husband of 54 years)\, father of four and grandfather of eight. He retired from the full-time practice of law in 2025\, which was preceded by three years of service in the U.S. Army (1971 – 1974) as a Chinese linguist and five years as a patrol officer in the Baltimore Police Department. In 1989 he confirmed a call to permanent diaconate in the Roman Catholic Church through the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius and\, preceding his current status as being on voluntary leave of absence\, served in parish ministry and on the deacon formation program\, including participation in St. Mary’s Seminary’s continuing formation program\, and the deacon life and ministry board. \nThrough contemplative practice for forty years\, Frank has a deep\, abiding sense of God’s presence in and through every person and everything God has created\, as well as God’s passionate desire to share that relationship with everyone. In addition to participating in several programs at the Well\, he has led retreats on Franciscan spirituality and God’s extravagant love\, as well as participating in the formation and leadership of small groups to enable others to develop and experience that relationship with the divine. He is an avid outdoorsman\, alpine mountaineer (in his younger years)\, ice climber\, and hiker. He currently serves as a volunteer with groups providing comfort and assistance to those whose lives have been disrupted by deportation.
