SUMMARY:Yoga Nidra – Guided Meditation & Stillness (Online Program)
DESCRIPTION:Yoga Nidra is a guided meditation practice that helps to relax the mind and body by doing “nothing.” This ancient practice produces a profound state of relaxation just by listening. \nOne hour of Yoga Nidra is equal to four (4) hours of sleep. As the mind slows down\, our thoughts begin to move away from us. Yoga Nidra happens in the space between waking and sleeping. It’s like floating! You disengage from stress-producing thoughts\, allowing the body\, mind\, and spirit to rest and heal naturally. Modern studies have validated the benefits of Yoga Nidra; showing that a guided meditation is very effective in reducing anxiety\, stress\, and depression. \nResting comfortably in your own home\, the practice can be done lying down or in a seated position with your feet up. All you have to do is listen. These are the items you will need: \n· A quiet place to lay down or recline.\n· Pillow for head and under your knees.\n· Blanket for warmth.\n· If desired\, an eye mask or pillow to block light.\n· Water to drink. \nThe Well is thrilled to continue our relationship with certified Kripalu Mindful Outdoor Guide\, Yoga Instructor\, and I Am Yoga Nidra Facilitator\, Jamila Keita to offer this deeply healing and restorative practice. Most individuals report feelings of enhanced well-being\, calm and better sleep after each session. Many feel relaxed and energized. \nIf you are new to meditation\, never tried or been successful at meditation\, or an experienced meditator\, we encourage you to give Yoga Nidra a try. You will be amazed at how easily you will achieve a meditative state. \nThe sessions are being offered twice a month on a Monday and Tuesday evening. You are welcome to purchase one session at a time or choose from three series options at a discounted rate – all sessions\, all Mondays\, or all Tuesdays. \nDATES: Mondays – 9/16\, 10/14\, 11/4\, 12/9/24\, 1/13/25 and Tuesdays – 9/24\, 10/29\, 11/12\, 12/17/24\, 1/28/25 \nTIME: 7:30 – 8:30 PM ET \nCOST: $15 per session\, All 10 sessions for $135\, All Monday sessions for $70\, or All Tuesday sessions for $70 \nLOCATION: ZOOM \nREGISTRATION is required; please register here. \nCANCELLATION POLICY:  Please read our cancellation policy\, here. \nIMPORTANT: You will receive an email from lorie@wellforthejourney.org at least 24 hours in advance of the start of your program. This email will include details to help you prepare for your program including any pertinent handouts\, location information\, and the ZOOM link for online programs. Please be sure you have received and read this email a minimum of 24 hours in advance of the start of the program. Thank you! \nFACILITATOR: Jamila Keita \nFACILITATOR BIO: \nHi! My name is Evangeline “Jamila” Keita. I’ve been practicing yoga for almost 25 years and decided to teach yoga as my “retirement job.” It was during my yoga training (YT200) that I was introduced to Yoga Nidra. Immediately after completing YT200 in 2014\, I took my first Yoga Nidra training. Since that time\, I’ve taken subsequent trainings in Yoga Nidra in 2017 and 2021. I love this practice. \nDuring the shutdown\, I found “nature therapy.” This led me to complete a course through “The Kripalu School of Outdoor Leadership” and become a KMOG (Kripalu Mindful Outdoor Guide). \nI currently teach two yoga classes per week on Zoom. Each class includes poses and a short Yoga Nidra session. Since 2022\, I have provided weekly Yoga Nidra sessions for Hopewell Cancer Support Center and occasional Mindful Outdoor Experiences (MOEs). Additionally\, I work for Nature Worx\, a non-profit that provides MOEs to persons in recovery and the general public. \nI never imagined this second career as it is\, but it seems like a natural evolution to me. I hope you enjoy my offerings.

SUMMARY:Journaling Your Magical Life (Online Program)
DESCRIPTION:If we look deeply\, every aspect of life has something magical about it and we hold the key to what is ‘our own magic’. Based on a commencement speech given by Brad Meltzer\, American novelist\, a series of journaling sessions with guided prompts will explore four “magic tricks”: making something appear\, making something disappear\, making two things switch places\, and changing one thing into something else. Each ‘trick’ has the potential to integrate journaling opportunities to reflect on and enhance life skills that encourage each of us be the best version of ourselves. \nOur session themes are: \nOctober 25th – Making Something Appear\nThe session will explore how we make choices to surround ourselves with people and experiences that provide support and encouragement to highlight our best traits. Pausing to examine times in our lives where people and experiences have been valuable is key to promoting spiritual growth. \nNovember 8th – Making Something Disappear\nThe session will explore challenges in our lives. Embracing a challenge can promote self-knowledge and equip us with the necessary strategies to harness our fears. Many times overcoming a fear leads to renewed strength and resilience. \nNovember 22nd – Making Two Things Switch Places\nThe session will explore how compassion for others is essential to life. Every person we encounter is battling something and many times you cannot ‘see it’. Finding empathy requires switching places with others to understand their journey and the value of your impact on the lives of others. \nDecember 6th – Changing One Thing Into Something Else\nThe session will explore the need to continue to pursue knowledge and growth to promote real change in our lives. It is essential to never stop striving for personal transformation and not get locked into a permanent state of being. \nYou are warmly invited to join experienced journaling facilitator\, Liz Neal\, to deepen your journaling practice or start a new one! No previous writing or journaling experience is required. You may join the entire series at a discounted rate or join one or more individual sessions. We look forward to a magical journaling journey with you at the Well! \nDATE: Fridays – 10/25\, 11/8\, 11/22\, 12/6/24 \nTIME: 1:00 – 2:30 PM ET \nCOST: $100 for the series of 4 sessions or $30 per session \nLOCATION: ZOOM \nREGISTRATION is required; please register here. \nCANCELLATION POLICY:  Please read our cancellation policy\, here. \nIMPORTANT: You will receive an email from lorie@wellforthejourney.org at least 24 hours in advance of the start of your program. If you are unable to find the email\, please check your SPAM or JUNK email folders. SUMMARY:Seven Sacred Pauses for Life's Daily Pilgrimage (Online Program Meeting Monthly)
DESCRIPTION:“All it takes is a simple\, sacred pause to get us in touch with the One who keeps vigil with us – the holy presence of so many names. Only you can name that which waits for you.” – Macrina Wiederkehr \nNo matter what spiritual path we follow\, we are all pilgrims together on each day’s journey. The details of our daily pilgrimage differ one from another\, but we all hope for a good day as we awake and move through the day with whatever joys and challenges await us. In her classic book\, Seven Sacred Pauses – Living Mindfully Through the Hours of the Day\, Macrina Wiederkehr invites us to embrace the rich tradition of consciously pausing at seven sacred moments of each day so that our daily passage through time is more of a sacred pilgrimage than one long To Do List. She encourages us to stay awake through the day\, “Each morning as I look out my window\, I want to be awake enough to say\, today I will remember to pause.” \nYou are invited to journey through the hours with spiritual companion and retreat leader\, Lorie Conway\, as we explore ways to practice pausing that recognize the busyness\, clutter\, noise\, and chaos that are rampant in our culture\, while gently encouraging us to be creators of our present moment. Each month will explore a different hour of the day and engage with contemplative spiritual practices that may be well suited for that time. We will use Wiederkehr’s book as a guide to the hours as we engage poetry\, music\, reflections\, and sacred text from an array of spiritual teachers and traditions. Please note\, it is not necessary to read the book as it is only one of many resources that will be utilized. \nOur monthly topics include:\n· September 26th – Introduction to Sacred Pausing\n· October 24th – The Awakening Hour – Dawn\n· November 21st – The Blessing Hour – Midmorning\n· December 12th – The Hour of Illumination – Midday\n· January 23rd – The Wisdom Hour – Midafternoon\n· February 20th – The Twilight Hour – Evening\n· March 20th – The Great Silence – Night\n· April 24th – The Night Watch – Midnight Until Dawn \nYou are welcome to join us for one\, many\, or all of the 8 monthly sessions. Lorie encourages you to join the first one\, if possible\, as it lays the groundwork for subsequent months. If you are unable to join the first one\, no worries! A handout will be provided to give you foundational information. \nDATES: Thursdays – 9/26\, 10/24\, 11/21\, 12/12/24\, and 1/23\, 2/20\, 3/20\, 4/24/25 \nTIME: 2:00 – 3:30 PM ET \nCOST: $35 per session or $250 for all 8 sessions \nREGISTRATION is required; please register here. \nCANCELLATION POLICY:  Please read our cancellation policy\, here. \nLOCATION: ZOOM \nIMPORTANT: You will receive an email from lorie@wellforthejourney.org at least 24 hours in advance of the start of your program. This email will include details to help you prepare for your program including any pertinent handouts\, location information\, and the ZOOM link for online programs. Please be sure you have received and read this email a minimum of 24 hours in advance of the start of the program. Thank you! \nFACILITATOR: Lorie Conway \nFACILITATOR BIO: \nLorie has a passion for deep listening and accompanying others on their spiritual journeys through spiritual direction\, small groups\, and retreats. SUMMARY:Horizons Men's Group - 2024-2025 (In-Person Program with Online Option)
DESCRIPTION:Most men do not feel they can talk freely about their spiritual journey. At the Well\, we feel differently. Horizons meets on the third Tuesday of each month (October – June)\, from 7pm – 8:30pm. We will meet in-person with the option to “zoom in” for those who may not live close by or for those for whom “zooming” is more comfortable. SUMMARY:Insight from the Enneagram: An Introduction (Online Program)
DESCRIPTION:Who am I? This is the fundamental question for each of us! The Enneagram is a powerful and dynamic system that helps to answer that question. It identifies nine distinct and fundamentally different patterns of thinking\, feeling\, and acting. Each of these nine basic personality types of human nature is found in each of us in a complex inter-relationship uniquely our own that helps guide us into our motivations\, desires\, behaviors\, and habitual strategies. \nThe Enneagram is an insightful psychological tool that uses these types to help explain why we behave the way we do. At a much deeper level\, the Enneagram is a spiritual tool that provides a map to help us grow as individuals – to recognize our Essence and become our truest self. \nJoin Riso-Hudson Certified Enneagram Teacher and Co-Active Life Coach\, Bev Gorman\, for this introductory overview of the Enneagram to help start you on your journey to find out who you really are – the true self that lies within. \nA required quick online survey will be provided prior to the start of the program to help you identify your basic personality type. No other experience or knowledge of the Enneagram is necessary. This program serves as a great introduction or a wonderful refresher. \nDATE: Tuesdays – 10/1\, 10/8\, 10/15/24 \nTIME: 6:30 – 8:30 PM ET \nCOST: $80 \nLOCATION: ZOOM \nREGISTRATION is required; please register here. \nCANCELLATION POLICY: Please read our cancellation policy\, here. \nIMPORTANT: You will receive an email from lorie@wellforthejourney.org at least 24 hours in advance of the start of your program.

SUMMARY:Joyfully Honoring Ancestors and Other Beloveds: A Mosaic of Gratitude (In-Person Program)
DESCRIPTION:A couple of testimonials from Cinder’s last Mosaics workshop at The Well…\n \n“I will probably be the first to sign up if this is offered again. I had joy and peace in self and beach combing community the whole time. Cinder is an amazing facilitator & person. Please offer this at least once a year\, but hopefully more than that!”\n– Sharon Bateman\n \nI LOVED this program! I would not change a thing!!! THANK YOU for the best day ever!!!\n– Kathy Finney\n \nFall’s poignancy and ritual shedding of leaves is a time that can bring grief closer for many. This joyful workshop honors the processes of grief and remembrance\, of letting go and holding on – wherever we may be in that vast field. It creates a vessel for group and individual contemplation\, self-expression\, and creation that provides quality time to remember and memorialize loved ones. \nWe will use a variety of creative practices and activities to remember\, share stories\, and communicate our love and appreciation for those who have left the earthly plane. Participants will engage in storytelling\, haiku writing\, and the design and creation of a colorful mosaic keepsake. SUMMARY:Insight from the Enneagram: An Introduction (Online Program)

SUMMARY:A Family Mindful Outdoor Experience: “Mind-Body-Spirit” (In-Person Program)
DESCRIPTION:Jamila Keita has been leading creative Mindful Outdoor Experience (MOE) sessions and deeply relaxing Yoga Nidra sessions for adults at the Well for the past year. We are excited to share that\, this Fall\, Jamila will be bringing families together outdoors at the Well to reconnect with nature and create a pathway to better wellness. \nChildren experience stress\, loneliness and other emotions just like adults. And\, just like adults\, they have to learn how to recognize and handle those emotions. A regular dose of nature walks and other outdoor activities teaches people of all ages how to remedy complex and challenging emotions without medication. \nThe best way to learn from nature is to be outside in nature. In this MOE\, adults and children ages 5 to 12 will learn to use their mind-body-spirit to begin the process of “re-wilding” with what nature offers to us. Spending time together as a family creates a lasting experience that we build upon each time we partake at “nature’s table.” \nWe will engage in age-appropriate nature-driven practices to awaken the senses and develop connections with the “more than human world\,” gentle yoga movement to breathe\, stretch & strengthen\, and guided meditation practices to release stress\, relax the mind and promote good emotional health. \nWear comfortable clothes to allow free movement and good shoes for walking a wooded path. Use sunscreen and insect repellent. \nI currently work for Nature Worx\, a non-profit that provides mindful outdoor experiences and nature therapy to persons in recovery and the general public. I also teach two yoga classes per week on Zoom.

SUMMARY:Sound Soul Weaving: Bridging\, Reflecting\, Discerning\, and Connecting with Self\, Spirit & Community (In-Person Sound Bath)
DESCRIPTION:The practice of sound bathing has gained popularity recently but is actually a healing practice that is thousands of years old with deep roots in cultures around the world. Jenny Ehrhardt has been facilitating sound offerings for the past two years\, incorporating her first love as an herbalist into all that she offers. Integrating sound using crystal chakra bowls\, bells\, song\, and rattles with plants and sweetness from the earth\, opens our hearts and nourishes the soul for the healing of the world. What a perfect combination for the Well community and all who seek soul nourishment and healing for self and others! \nJenny will offer a time of stillness\, sacred listening\, reflection\, and alignment with spirit in the safe and sacred space of the Well. Being able to go deep into yourself while also being in community allows us to take care of ourselves as well as send love and peace out into the world through our vibrations\, prayers and the collective spiritual intention of a sacred community. \nWe will begin with a time of introduction and honoring of each participant\, inviting plant spirit connection to our intentions/prayers and sound healing meditation. Healing sound helps break up trauma in the body and assists in releasing whatever no longer serves us. This is so important in our culture and world today. At the end of the session\, Jenny will share seasonal herbal tea and a sweet offering to help integrate and embody the experience. \nWe are thrilled that Jenny found the Well (literally in her own neighborhood!) and is sharing her gifts of love and presence now as part of the Well community. We invite you to join Jenny and trust this ancient healing process of soul sound weaving for the renewal of your body\, mind and spirit and the nourishment of your soul. \nPlease Note: This session will last 1.5 to 2 hours depending on the number of participants. \nDATE: Sunday\, September 29\, 2024 \nTIME: 4:00 – 6:00 PM (1.5-2 hours) \nCOST: $45 \nLOCATION: Well for the Journey – 120 W. Seminary Ave\, Lutherville-Timonium\, MD 21093 \nREGISTRATION is required; please register here. \nCANCELLATION POLICY:  Please read our cancellation policy\, here. \nIMPORTANT: You will receive an email from lorie@wellforthejourney.org at least 24 hours in advance of the start of your program. Thank you! \nFACILITATOR: Jenny Ehrhardt \nFACILITATOR BIO: \nOver the Last two years I have been fortunate to work with two other women facilitating sound offerings on the Eastern Shore. I have seen so many beautiful effects this work has had on so many people\, including myself. I feel honored to be working with the bowls and other sounds to help connect us to something much deeper\, Ourselves. Working with all ages on many different levels\, I see the peace come over most people in a very surprising way. I have been called to create small\, intimate sound offerings right here in my hometown. I am grateful to have found Well for the Journey\, which has been such a sacred place for me this past year. I work deeply with the plants as well and had a small shoppe in Hampden for over 10 years. I have been called to service and I love plants\, sound\, and people who are open to change and learning and being in a community without judgement. Pure Hearts\, I feel this at Well For the Journey and look forward to connecting more and sharing and learning through sound and the plants.

SUMMARY:Drawing Zentangle Inspired Mandalas (Online Program)
DESCRIPTION:Join Becky Boynton this Fall as she returns for another offering of Zentangle®! Becky\, a Certified Zentangle Teacher\, is excited to guide others in learning this step-by-step method that can expand your sense of being creative and positively contribute to your overall experience of well-being. You are invited and encouraged to participate in this upcoming program whether you have never “tangled” before or if you do have prior experience with Zentangle. \nThe Zentangle® Method is a simple\, relaxing\, fun way to create beautiful abstract designs by drawing structured patterns. Participants only need paper\, pencil\, a black fine line pen and some Q-Tips or other blending tool. No previous skills or experience are needed; just a willingness to put pen to paper. There are no mistakes in Zentangle; this is meant to be relaxing. \nWhile the process may look intricate\, it is a deceptively simple pathway to improve your well-being. In addition to verbal instructions\, you will receive handouts before class that will assist you in following Becky’s live video demonstrations. \nThe benefits of Zentangle are numerous and include increased confidence\, relaxation\, and inspiration. This practice also enhances focus\, heightens mindfulness\, and fosters a deeper sense of meaningfulness on a spiritual level. Beginners are often quite surprised and pleased at what they create. “Anything is possible one stroke at a time.” That is the Zentangle tag line. \nIn each class\, Becky will use the Zentangle method and patterns to draw a mandala. Mandalas are usually circles filled with symmetrical and repeating geometric shapes. They date back to at least the 4th century B.C. and can be found in religious ceremonies\, meditation practices\, home décor\, on clothing\, and even tattoos. \nParticipants are encouraged to follow the instructions as demonstrated or “go rogue” and deviate slightly or widely from Becky’s planned mandala. Each of the sessions is suited to first-time tanglers as well as those with experience. The sessions stand alone\, so participation in all three is not necessary. Additionally\, for the first time\, the sessions will be recorded. If you register and are unable to attend for some reason\, we can send you the recording after the sessions. A copy of the recording will also be sent to everyone who attends. \nDATES & TIMES:\n· Tuesday\, September 17th from 7:00 – 8:30 PM ET\n· Thursday\, September 26th from 10:00 – 11:30 AM ET\n· Sunday\, September 29th from 4:00 – 5:30 PM ET \nCOST: $25 per session or $60 for all three sessions \nLOCATION: ZOOM \nREGISTRATION is required; please register here. \nCANCELLATION POLICY: Please read our cancellation policy here. \nIMPORTANT: You will receive an email from lorie@wellforthejourney.org at least 24 hours in advance of the start of your program. If you are unable to find the email\, please check your SPAM or JUNK email folders. This email will include details to help you prepare for your program including any pertinent handouts\, location information\, and the ZOOM link for online programs. Please be sure you have received and read this email a minimum of 24 hours in advance of the start of the program. Thank you! \nFACILITATOR: Becky Boynton \nFACILITATOR BIO: \nBecky Boynton taught elementary school for 27 years in Virginia and Maryland\, in both public and private schools. Most recently she served as the Service-Learning Coordinator at the Friends School of Baltimore. A longtime volunteer at a food pantry and financial assistance center in Baltimore\, she now volunteers teaching Zentangle® on Zoom. She was first introduced to Zentangle in 2012 and has been tangling ever since. In 2018 she became a CZT (Certified Zentangle Teacher) by attending the four-day training program in Providence\, RI. She has been teaching Zentangle® since 2018. \nBefore Zentangle® she considered herself a crafter\, not an artist. Zentangle® has changed that. This step-by-step method is easy to learn\, relaxing and a fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns. It increases focus and creativity. She enjoys bringing this technique to those who do not see themselves as capable of creating art. She is now a firm believer that\, as the creators of Zentangle® say\, “Anything is possible\, one stroke at a time. ™” \nBecky returns to The Well having taught in person and Zoom Zentangle classes for us since 2020.

SUMMARY:Group Spiritual Direction 2024-2025 with Cathy Rosensteel (In-Person & Online)
DESCRIPTION:Group Spiritual Direction is a process in which people gather together on a regular basis to assist one another in an ongoing awareness of God (Spirit\, Source\, Creator\, whatever your name is) in all of life. Participants in the group are seeking support for their responsiveness to God and they agree to support others in that same responsiveness. This contemplative approach to spiritual direction is grounded in the model that originated at the Shalem Institute for Spiritual Formation in Washington\, DC. . \nJoining the group is a deep commitment to one’s spiritual journey and to the other participants in the group. Three conditions are essential to the life of the group. Members must agree to: \n· Commit themselves to an honest relationship with God\, by whatever name called.\n· Participate wholeheartedly in the group process through consistent attendance and prayerful listening and response.\n· Open their spiritual journeys for consideration by others. \nThe group is limited to five participants and is facilitated by Cathy Rosensteel.

SUMMARY:Free: Worship in the Wild (In-Person Program - Oregon Ridge)
DESCRIPTION:During Covid\, many of us experienced communal worship in new ways\, mostly through on-line alternatives and outdoors. We grew accustomed to experiencing worship that wasn’t attached to a particular sacred building or in-person with others not in our household. Our experience of worship expanded and with it our freedom to recognize the sacred in many worship spaces. \nPlease join us this Fall for “Worship in the Wild” at beautiful Oregon Ridge Park in Hunt Valley. Our leaders for this alternative worship experience\, Scott Slater and Greg Cochran\, have long and rich histories in traditional pulpits and in the great outdoors! \nScott and Greg will combine their passion for nature with their experience of worship to gently move us along a trail where the “worship space” changes and encourages our sense of spirituality in nature. Inclusive and expansive language will be intentionally used that invites participants to think more broadly about how we understand terms such as God or Spirit. The order of service will be loosely structured and based on historic Christian Sunday worship patterns\, but with broader\, more inclusive\, and non-Christian specific language. Inspirational readings will come from a variety of sacred spiritual traditions. \nWe will gather at the Oregon Ridge Nature Center. The ability to walk for a mile and stand for ten minutes at a time along the trail is required. Please dress comfortably and wear good walking shoes. This offering is free\, but please register for planning purposes and so that we can notify you if worship is cancelled due to weather or unforeseen circumstance. Thank you! \nDATE: Sunday\, September 22\, 2024 \nTIME: 3:00 – 4:00PM \nCOST: FREE \nLOCATION: Oregon Ridge Nature Center\, 13555 Beaver Dam Road\, Cockeysville\, MD 21030 \nRSVP is required; please RSVP HERE: \nIMPORTANT: You will receive an email from lorie@wellforthejourney.org at least 24 hours in advance of the start of your program. SUMMARY:Welcoming Fall - A Mindful Outdoor Experience (In-Person Program)
DESCRIPTION:In our society\, we spend a lot of time inside and in front of a screen. Chances are good you are reading about this program on a screen within four walls right now. Yet we are part of creation\, and our bodies and spirits instinctively crave a connection with the great outdoors. Spending time in nature promotes an increased sense of relaxation and supports the body’s capacity for overall wellness and healing. \nWe are pleased to welcome back certified Kripalu Mindful Outdoor Guide and Yoga Instructor\, Jamila Keita\, for a Mindful Outdoor Experience (MOE) at the Well as we connect to the season of Fall. This MOE invites participants to rediscover the joy in nature by engaging in practices that awaken the senses such as meditation\, mindful walking (sauntering)\, gentle stretching\, and forest bathing. Studies have found that a “regular dose of nature therapy” improves sleep\, reduces symptoms of depression\, combats stress\, increases vigor\, and boosts our immune systems. \nThe program is designed to give you an outdoor experience without having to go into a remote location. It is based on a nine-step practice developed by the Kripalu School of Mindful Outdoor Leadership (KSMOL). Jamila is thrilled to bring her love for nature and walking\, and her experience and joy guiding MOE’s throughout the Baltimore metro area\, to the Well’s backyard woods. \nNo prior experience is needed. Participants must have moderate mobility and be capable of walking on a wooded path. \nDATE: Friday\, September 20\, 2024 \nTIME: 11:30AM – 1:30PM \nCOST: $30 \nLOCATION: Well for the Journey – 120 W. \nI currently work for Nature Worx\, a non-profit that provides mindful outdoor experiences and nature therapy to persons in recovery and the general public. I also teach two yoga classes per week on Zoom.
