SUMMARY:Yoga Nidra: A Guided Meditation Practice (Online Program)
DESCRIPTION:I love Jamila’s facilitation\, pace\, tone of voice\, and giftedness in leading this practice. I ALWAYS feel better after the sessions and have a good and restful sleep that night. – Lorie Conway \nWonderful session with Jamila! She is a fantastic facilitator and I truly enjoy her content and delivery. Very healing experience! – Toni Rasmussen \nThe program is not designed to foster active engagement because it is meditative\, but does give a strong sense that all participants are in community together for the meditation experience. The facilitator is warm and welcoming. – Katie Bass \nThank you Jamila for holding such a sacred space for us. The rhythm and tone of your voice aided in helping move into that “twilight” space of Yoga Nidra. Thank you! – Past Participant \nYoga Nidra is a guided meditation practice that helps to relax the mind and body by doing “nothing.” This ancient practice produces a profound state of rest and relaxation simply by listening. \nOne hour of Yoga Nidra is said to be as restorative as four hours of sleep. As the mind slows down\, the whirlwind of thoughts holding our attention begin to move away from us as we float in the space between waking and sleeping. As you disengage from stress-producing thoughts\, the body\, mind\, and spirit begin to rest and heal naturally. Modern research continues to affirm the benefits of Yoga Nidra\, showing significant reductions in anxiety\, stress\, and depression after guided mediation. Many participants report improved sleep\, a deep sense of calm\, and renewed energy. \nResting comfortably in your own home\, the practice can be done lying down or in a seated position with your feet up. All you have to do is listen. Suggestions for your comfort include: \n\nA quiet place to lie down or recline\nA pillow for your head and under your knees\nA blanket and socks for warmth\nIf desired\, an eye mask or pillow to block light\nA glass of water nearby\n\n\nThe Well is delighted to continue offering this deeply healing and restorative practice in collaboration with certified Kripalu Mindful Outdoor Guide\, Yoga Instructor\, and I Am Yoga Nidra Facilitator\, Jamila Keita. If you are new to meditation\, have never tried or been successful at meditation\, or are just curious about yoga without any yoga poses\, we encourage you to give Yoga Nidra a try. You will be amazed at how easily you will achieve a meditative state with Jamila’s gentle guidance and soothing voice. \nNew This Season – Never Miss A Session! Each Yoga Nidra session will be recorded. The sessions are being offered twice a month on a Monday and Tuesday evening. A link to the recording will be emailed to registered participants the following day and will be available for three (3) days. You can listen as often as you like until the link expires after 3 days. \nGive yourself (and maybe a loved one!) the gift of deep rest and relaxation. Your body\, mind\, and spirit will thank you! \n\n  \nDATES: Mondays – 9/15\, 10/13\, 11/10\, 12/1/25 and Tuesdays – 9/30\, 10/28\, 11/18\, 12/16/25 \nTIME: 7:30 – 8:30 PM ET \nCOST: $20 \nLOCATION: ZOOM \nREGISTRATION is required; please register here. \nIMPORTANT: You will receive an email from programming@wellforthejourney.org at least 24 hours in advance of the start of your program. If you are unable to find the email\, please check your SPAM or JUNK email folders. This email will include details to help you prepare for your program including any pertinent handouts\, location information\, and the ZOOM link for online programs. Please be sure you have received and read this email a minimum of 24 hours in advance of the start of the program. Thank you! \nFACILITATOR: Jamila Keita \nFACILITATOR BIO: \nHi! My name is Evangeline “Jamila” Keita. I’ve been practicing yoga for almost 25 years and decided to teach yoga as my “retirement job.” It was during my yoga training (YT200) that I was introduced to Yoga Nidra. Immediately after completing YT200 in 2014\, I took my first Yoga Nidra training. Since that time\, I’ve taken subsequent trainings in Yoga Nidra in 2017 and 2021. I love this practice. \nDuring the shutdown\, I found “nature therapy.” This led me to complete a course through “The Kripalu School of Outdoor Leadership” and become a KMOG (Kripalu Mindful Outdoor Guide). \nI currently teach two yoga classes per week on Zoom. Each class includes poses and a short Yoga Nidra session. Since 2022\, I have provided weekly Yoga Nidra sessions for Hopewell Cancer Support Center and occasional Mindful Outdoor Experiences (MOEs). Additionally\, I work for Nature Worx\, a non-profit that provides MOEs to persons in recovery and the general public. \nI never imagined this second career as it is\, but it seems like a natural evolution to me. I hope you enjoy my offerings.

SUMMARY:Anam Cara – A Soul Care Group for Spiritual Caregivers (Online Program - Morning Group)
DESCRIPTION:“I have appreciated having a space with people\, colleagues…The ability to walk and journal\, having that time carved out so other things don’t get in the way of it is helpful.” – Rev Andy McClain\n \n“I needed a community where I could be myself as an African American woman…Our Anam Cara group became the place where I could be just that. Authenticity and integrity seemed to be primary values for the group from the first time I entered.” – Rev. Freda Marie Brown\n \n“…I loved the opportunity to share new thoughts and ideas as I underwent my own spiritual transformation. I loved the openness and the refreshing way we all supported each other’s voices\, accepting with interest and love whatever was being offered\, without judgement.  – Rev. Freda Marie Brown\n \nI value opportunities for creativity\, contemplation\, and connection…and for curiosity about how it goes with each participant: How goes retirement? How goes vocational discernment? How goes caring for loved ones? How goes raising children?” – Rev. Clare Petersberger\n \n“Our Anam Cara gatherings remind me to mark the time through the changing seasons of the year and of our lives with soul friends. For all of these are holy things we will not\, cannot\, find again.” – Rev Clare Petersberger\n  \nCaring for others can be deeply meaningful—and deeply depleting. For ministers\, chaplains\, spiritual companions\, and others who offer soul care\, the act of holding sacred space for others can come at the cost of your own spiritual nourishment. The Well’s Anam Cara (Soul Friend) Group is a space created just for you—a place to receive the care you regularly encourage for others – soul care. \nThis small group\, sacred community welcomes spiritual caregivers (active\, retired\, or on sabbatical) to rest\, reflect\, and be. There are no roles to fill or responsibilities to carry. Here\, you are invited to water your own soul\, speak freely or remain silent\, and simply show up as you are—without judgment or expectation. \nWe are honored to welcome back Cecilia Amaral as facilitator for another year of Anam Cara. Cecilia has a deep commitment to encourage others to nurture authentic and thriving relationships with themselves\, others\, and their environments. Cecilia brings extensive experience working with spiritual caregivers and clergy from many faith traditions on an individual basis\, in groups\, and with denominational staff. She is uniquely gifted in holding space for those navigating the weight and complexity of spiritual companionship and leadership today. \nDue to high interest\, we are delighted to offer two online groups this year! Both groups will meet on the first Monday of the month\, October through June (with adjustments for holy days and holidays\, as needed): \n\nMorning Group – 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM ET (This website page you are reading right now is for the morning group!)\nEvening Group – 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM ET\n\n\nEach session follows a spacious rhythm: \n\nA check-in time with one another\nA reflection prompt offered by Cecila\n30 minutes of quiet\, off-screen personal reflection\nOptional sharing and a closing blessing\n\n\nCome be part of one of these nurturing circles. Let this be a season where your soul is tended with the same compassionate soul care you offer others. \nPlease Note: This registration is for the Morning Sessions. \nDATES: Mondays – 10/6\, 11/3\, 12/1/25 and 1/5\, 2/2\, 3/2\, 4/6\, 5/4\, 6/1/26 \nTIME: 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM ET \nCOST: $95 \nLOCATION: ZOOM \nREGISTRATION is required; please register here. Thank you! \nFACILITATOR: Cecilia Amaral \nFACILITATOR BIO: \nCecilia Amaral has a deep commitment to encourage others to nurture authentic and thriving relationships with themselves\, others\, and their environments. Her decision to retire after more than 25 years as a Pastoral Psychotherapist and Educator has transitioned into her current practice as Spiritual Director and Certified Professional Life Coach. Cecilia’s integrated approach in companioning others on their journey leads to meaningful\, personal\, and relational transformation. \nCecilia began her involvement with the mission of the Well by referring clients to use the programs offered for their well-being. This evolved into her service as a board member\, Board Chair\, Circle Chair\, and Spiritual Guide to the Board of Directors.

SUMMARY:Yoga Nidra: A Guided Meditation Practice (Online Program)
DESCRIPTION:Yoga Nidra is a guided meditation practice that helps to relax the mind and body by doing “nothing.” This ancient practice produces a profound state of rest and relaxation simply by listening. \nPlus – Never Miss A Session! \nDATES: Mondays – 2/9\, 3/9\, 4/6\, 5/4\, 6/8/26 and Tuesdays – 1/27\, 2/24\, 3/24\, 4/21\, 5/26\, 6/23/26 \nTIME: 7:30 – 8:30 PM ET \nCOST: $20 \nLOCATION: ZOOM \nREGISTRATION is required; please register here. \nIMPORTANT: You will receive an email from programming@wellforthejourney.org at least 24 hours in advance of the start of your program. This email will include details to help you prepare for your program including any pertinent handouts\, location information\, and the ZOOM link for online programs.

SUMMARY:Dialogues in Discernment: Exploring Practices and Pathways for Navigating a Noisy World (Online Program)
DESCRIPTION:In a noisy world\, how can we quiet ourselves to listen deeply? In a world that offers many paths forward\, how can we know which is ours to take? In a world of deep divisions\, how can we contribute to greater unity? \nDiscernment is the spiritual art of deep listening and presence – of learning to notice what rings true\, what brings peace\, and what leads us toward love. It’s less about quick decisions and more about wise alignment – tuning in to the movement of Spirit\, our values\, and the quiet knowing within. \nOur religious and spiritual practices provide wisdom pathways for this kind of listening and living. How can we engage these practices in this time of great need\, and also learn from other traditions that may offer new perspectives for us? \nWe invite you to lean into a series of conversations with three of the Well’s beloved facilitators and wisdom seekers who will share their spiritual practices of discernment and create space for sharing our own practices and experiences in both individual and group discernment. What can we learn with and from one another to strengthen our contributions to a world of greater unity? \nAmy Schmaljohn will reflect on the practices that grew within and from the Quaker tradition. She’ll describe such practices as listening for the inward guide\, spiritual companioning\, clearness groups\, holding in the Light\, and a mode of group discernment called sense-of-the-meeting decision making. She came to Quakerism in her early 20s and has journeyed actively in a local Quaker Meeting and taught at a local Quaker school. \nEric Clayton will reflect on discernment practices inspired by the Ignatian tradition. Ignatian spirituality comes out of the lived experience and prayer life of St. Ignatius of Loyola\, a soldier-turned-Catholic-saint. In addition to founding the Jesuits\, St. Ignatius is best known for writing the Spiritual Exercises\, a four-week retreat in which a retreatant discovers more about themselves and who they are called to be in the world through careful reflection and decision-making. Through a series of imaginative meditations\, a deepening understanding of desires and discernment practices\, individuals are able to test the “spirits” and make good choices. The Ignatian tradition and its treasure trove of spiritual wisdom is open and available to all. Eric is an award-winning writer who has penned several books on the intersection of Ignatian spirituality and everyday life\, and he works in communications for the Jesuit Conference of Canada and the United States. \nLisa Beacham will reflect on discernment as a spiritual practice that belongs to everyone — not just those within a faith tradition. She’ll explore how discernment offers a way of listening and living with greater intention\, beyond ordinary decision-making. She’ll share a simple three-part process that helps us quiet the noise\, notice the movement of Spirit\, and take the next aligned\, courageous action with clarity and trust. Lisa is a certified spiritual director\, coach\, and workshop leader who helps accomplished\, spiritually minded professionals in mid-late career reconnect with purpose\, listen for inner wisdom\, and create meaningful and impactful next chapters in life and work. \nAll three of these sessions form a powerful and insightful series\, but we recognize that schedules can sometimes be challenging. Please feel free to join one\, two\, or all three sessions. \nDATE: Wednesdays\, 1/28\, 2/4\, and 2/11/26 \nTIME: 6:30 – 8:30 PM ET \nCOST: $125 for the Series or $45 per session \nLOCATION: ZOOM \nREGISTRATION is required; please register here. Thank you! \n\nFACILITATORS: Amy Schmaljohn\, Eric Clayton\, & Lisa Beacham \nFACILITATOR BIOS:\nAmy Schmaljohn\nAmy enjoyed a 35 year career as a leader and teacher in both higher education and at Friends School of Baltimore (Quaker). Her classrooms offered students opportunities to explore world literature and art\, movements for nonviolent social transformation\, and the human experience of religion across global traditions.
SUMMARY:Exploring the Cup of Our Life (A six-part\, online series)
DESCRIPTION:In these tender and challenging times\, it is ever more important to understand how we can hold harmony and balance between our inner and outer lives. While using Joyce Rupp’s book\, The Cup of Our Life\, as a foundation\, we will use a simple cup as a metaphor for our lives. Perhaps you have a favorite cup to hold your morning beverage. Maybe it has a few chips from being used so often. Or perhaps there is a beloved cup that has broken and been put back together with love. All of these cups can act as metaphors for times in our lives. \nDuring our gatherings\, we will examine how we fill our cup with intention\, and what we pour out of our cup into our own lives as well as the lives of those around us. As the seasons of life change\, so does the need to empty from our cup that which no longer serves us and fill it with those things that will help us meet the next season more fully. We must discern what to keep\, what to let go of and what to add to meet ourselves in the fullness of our lives. \nJoin Spiritual Companion and Retreat Facilitator\, Beth Wood-Roig\, for this soul-nourishing and enriching winter series from the warmth and comfort of your home. Each week\, Beth will invite reflection on a different image of the cup\, such as the open cup\, the chipped cup\, the broken cup\, and the cup of compassion\, encouraging insight into how we live with intention and harmony. It is not necessary to purchase or read the book. Simply bring your favorite cup and an openness to discover all that this simple tool can offer. \nDATES: Tuesdays – 2/3\, 2/10\, 2/17\, 2/24\, 3/3\, 3/10/26 \nTIME: 7:00 – 8:30 PM ET \nCOST: $120 \nLOCATION: ZOOM \nREGISTRATION is required; please register here. \nIMPORTANT: You will receive an email from programming@wellforthejourney.org at least 24 hours in advance of the start of your program.
\nIMPORTANT: You will receive an email from programming@wellforthejourney.org at least 24 hours in advance of the start of your program.
\nPlus – Never Miss A Session!

\nIMPORTANT: You will receive an email from programming@wellforthejourney.org at least 24 hours in advance of the start of your program. This email will include details to help you prepare for your program including any pertinent handouts\, location information\, and the ZOOM link for online programs. Please be sure you have received and read this email a minimum of 24 hours in advance of the start of the program. A member of Gunpowder Friends Meeting (Quaker)\, she leads contemplative spiritual retreats in the tradition of the Religious Society of Friends and offers spiritual deepening programs for seekers in the Baltimore region. She is enlivened by the sharing of our stories\, by the mystery and power of the written word\, and by her daily encounters with the natural world just outside her doorstep. Amy and her husband Alan\, a retired virologist\, live in northwestern Baltimore County\, where they steward seventeen acres of woodland\, meadow and streams that have been placed in the Maryland Environmental Trust and serve as a gathering space for those seeking immersive experiences in nature. \nEric A. Clayton\nEric is the award-winning author of three books on Ignatian spirituality: Finding Peace Here and Now: How Ignatian Spirituality Leads Us to Healing and Wholeness\, My Life with the Jedi: The Spirituality of Star Wars and Cannonball Moments: Telling Your Story\, Deepening Your Faith. He is also the deputy director for communications at the Jesuit Conference of Canada and the United States. Learn more at ericclaytonwrites.com and sign up for his Substack at ericclayton.substack.com. \n \nLisa Beacham\nLisa works with accomplished\, spiritually minded men and women in their mid to late career who are feeling empty\, burned out\, and know they cannot continue doing what they’re doing. She helps them to create a fulfilling and impactful career and life path that will carry them through to retirement. Even after making bold moves and big transitions multiple times in her life\, the decision at age 51 to leave a stable job\, volunteer for a year in Haiti\, and return to carve out a new career and life path was a challenging one. Listening for guidance\, practicing discernment\, and learning to embrace the support available for each step of the way has been transformative. Lisa creates a personalized approach for each of her clients based on their particular needs and goals. She draws upon an extensive set of practices and tools from her training and experience as a coach\, spiritual director\, Enneagram guide\, and lifelong seeker and learner. In addition\, she leads workshops and retreats.
