SUMMARY:Ancient Myths & Their Wisdom for Contemporary Spiritual Seekers (Online Series)
DESCRIPTION:“A myth… is a metaphor for a mystery beyond human comprehension. It is a comparison that helps us understand\, by analogy\, some aspect of our mysterious selves. A myth\, in this way of thinking\, is not an untruth but a way of reaching a profound truth.” ~ Christopher Vogler \nThe word myth is saturated with numerous\, sometimes negative connotations in contemporary times. Often\, it is associated with being an untruth or a fabricated statement. Yet\, this recent usage of the word ignores the rich\, timeless value for which myths were originally conceived. Join us for this multi-part series that will explore some of the world’s prominent mythologies in their original light and the deep spiritual wisdom cradled within them. Excerpts of myths will be gathered from the Egyptian\, Greek\, Chinese\, Celtic and Native American traditions amongst other cultures. Additional sources will include Michael Meade’s Awakening the Soul and his long-running podcast series\, Living Myth. \nWithin each session\, there will be abundant opportunities to creatively experience these myths and connect with the parallels they offer to contemporary spiritual seekers and their personal journeys. Centralizing themes from each of the featured mythologies will be highlighted in each session of the series. While pertinent information related to respective myths will be provided\, also woven throughout each session will be time for contemplative silence and meditation\, journaling\, personal reflection\, and group discussion. Participants will emerge from the series with a timely and deepened awareness about the gifts and relevance of myths and the healing role they can serve in cultivating understanding and peace in our world today. \nMythological journeys will unfold along the following schedule as we journey with diversely different cultures and traditions from around the world: \n· January 28th – Egyptian Mythology\n· February 25th – Greek Mythology\n· March 25th – Chinese Mythology\n· April 29th (5th Tuesday) – Celtic Mythology\n· May 27th – Native American Mythologies \nPlease Note: Attendance is encouraged in each session of this series\, however\, interested participants can register for one\, a few\, or all programs depending on personal preference and availability. \nDATE: Tuesdays – 1/28\, 2/25\, 3/25\, 4/29\, and 5/27/25 \nTIME: 1:00 – 3:00 PM ET \nCOST: $200 for Series or $45 per Session \nREGISTRAION is required; please register here. \n CANCELLATION POLICY: Please read our cancellation policy\, here.  \nLOCATION: ZOOM \nIMPORTANT: You will receive an email from programming@wellforthejourney.org at least 24 hours in advance of the start of your program. SUMMARY:Yoga Nidra: Guided Meditation & Stillness (Online Program)
DESCRIPTION:Yoga Nidra is a guided meditation practice that helps to relax the mind and body by doing “nothing.” This ancient practice produces a profound state of relaxation just by listening. \nOne hour of Yoga Nidra is equal to four (4) hours of sleep. As the mind slows down\, our thoughts begin to move away from us. Yoga Nidra happens in the space between waking and sleeping. It’s like floating! You disengage from stress-producing thoughts\, allowing the body\, mind\, and spirit to rest and heal naturally. Modern studies have validated the benefits of Yoga Nidra; showing that a guided meditation is very effective in reducing anxiety\, stress\, and depression. \nResting comfortably in your own home\, the practice can be done lying down or in a seated position with your feet up. All you have to do is listen. These are the items you will need: \n· A quiet place to lay down or recline.\n· Pillow for head and under your knees.\n· Blanket for warmth.\n· If desired\, an eye mask or pillow to block light.\n· Water to drink. \nThe Well is thrilled to continue our relationship with certified Kripalu Mindful Outdoor Guide\, Yoga Instructor\, and I Am Yoga Nidra Facilitator\, Jamila Keita to offer this deeply healing and restorative practice. Most individuals report feelings of enhanced well-being\, calm and better sleep after each session. Many feel relaxed and energized. \nIf you are new to meditation\, never tried or been successful at meditation\, we encourage you to give Yoga Nidra a try. You will be amazed at how easily you will achieve a meditative state. \nThe sessions are being offered twice a month on a Monday and Tuesday evening. Give yourself (and maybe a loved one!) the gift of deep rest and relaxation this Spring. Your body will thank you! \nDATE: Mondays\, 4/7\, 5/12\, 6/9/25 and Tuesdays\, 4/22\, 5/27\, 6/24/25 \nTIME: 7:30 – 8:30 PM ET \nCOST: $15 per session \nLOCATION: ZOOM \nREGISTRATION is required; please register here. \nCANCELLATION / REFUND POLICY: Please read our cancellation / refund policy\, here. \nIMPORTANT: You will receive an email from programming@wellforthejourney.org at least 24 hours in advance of the start of your program. If you are unable to find the email\, please check your SPAM or JUNK email folders. This email will include details to help you prepare for your program including any pertinent handouts\, location information\, and the ZOOM link for online programs. Please be sure you have received and read this email a minimum of 24 hours in advance of the start of the program. Thank you! \nFACILITATOR: Jamila Keita \nFACILITATOR BIO: \nHi! My name is Evangeline “Jamila” Keita. I’ve been practicing yoga for almost 25 years and decided to teach yoga as my “retirement job.” It was during my yoga training (YT200) that I was introduced to Yoga Nidra. Immediately after completing YT200 in 2014\, I took my first Yoga Nidra training. Since that time\, I’ve taken subsequent trainings in Yoga Nidra in 2017 and 2021. I love this practice. \nDuring the shutdown\, I found “nature therapy.” This led me to complete a course through “The Kripalu School of Outdoor Leadership” and become a KMOG (Kripalu Mindful Outdoor Guide). \nI currently teach two yoga classes per week on Zoom. Each class includes poses and a short Yoga Nidra session. Since 2022\, I have provided weekly Yoga Nidra sessions for Hopewell Cancer Support Center and occasional Mindful Outdoor Experiences (MOEs). Additionally\, I work for Nature Worx\, a non-profit that provides MOEs to persons in recovery and the general public. \nI never imagined this second career as it is\, but it seems like a natural evolution to me. I hope you enjoy my offerings.

SUMMARY:Walk Slowly: A Praying in Color Meditation on the Labyrinth (Online Program)
DESCRIPTION:Testimonials of past Praying in Color meditations with Facilitator\, Lorie Conway… \n“Lorie did a great job making a welcoming environment for the diverse group of participants.” – Maddy Shea \n“Lorie is always well-prepared with beautiful poems & has a very calm\, reassuring presence in these troubled times.” – Marie Cournoyer \n“Lorie sets a safe and comfortable space. Her comments are thoughtful and I still think about them. She is a caring and inspiring presence.” – Donna Mollenkopf \n“What a beautiful mediation practice! It is nice to have space held for this work. I loved it!” – Jennifer Ehrhardt \n“Oh do you have time to linger for just a little while out of your busy and very important day for the goldfinches that have gathered in a field of thistles…?” – Mary Oliver \nSummer! Once the season of longer days\, gentler rhythms\, and a slower pace\, summer can now too easily get caught up in an over-scheduled whirlwind that goes by in the blink of an eye and misses the goldfinches swaying on the thistle…if we let it. \nWe can choose a different way this summer. We can choose to linger with the goldfinches or our morning coffee\, to pause\, and to savor. We can choose to be intentional with our time and calendars. We can choose rest and joy as resistance to the hectic pace and surface turmoil that is rampant at this time in our history. \nYou are invited to join us for a contemplative meditation where we will ponder a different path for our summers. Using the complementary spiritual practices of Praying in Color and Walking the Labyrinth\, Lorie will guide us in a slow and reflective paper labyrinth “walk” using colorful writing utensils such as colored pencils\, markers\, crayons\, or pens. Just as praying with the labyrinth is not about walking but about experiencing your body moving along the path\, praying with color is not about art\, but about experiencing your hands holding a pencil moving along a piece of paper. Both practices invite us to let go of words\, sink deeper\, and engage our bodies in listening\, prayer\, and meditation. There will also be an opportunity to share our reflections with one another in sacred community\, as you feel led\, to deepen the experience. \nNo prior experience with the labyrinth\, praying in color\, or artistic skills are required! A paper labyrinth will be emailed to you to print in advance. All you need is the colorful writing utensils of your choice. Lorie will guide every step of these simple and meaningful spiritual practices. \nCome join us and start your summer at the pace you choose! \nDATE: Wednesday\, June 25\, 2025 \nTIME: 7:00 – 8:30 PM ET \nCOST: $20 \nLOCATION: ZOOM \nREGISTRATION is required: please register here. \nCANCELLATION/REFUND POLICY:  Please read our cancellation / refund policy here. \nIMPORTANT: You will receive an email from programming@wellforthejourney.org at least 24 hours in advance of the start of your program. Please be sure you have received and read this email a minimum of 24 hours in advance of the start of the program. Thank you! \nFACILITATOR: Lorie Conway \nFACILITATOR BIO: \nLorie has a passion for deep listening and accompanying others on their spiritual journeys through spiritual direction\, small groups\, and retreats. SUMMARY:An Artful Approach to Understanding Ecclesiastes through the Works of Vincent Van Gogh & Pete Seeger (Online Program)
DESCRIPTION:“I thought the program was well done and tied the scripture and art together well. The presenter was well prepared and passionate about the subject matter her enthusiasm was contagious.” – Janice Carico \n“This was a BEAUTIFUL program… I would love a redo of this or a similar program.” – Mary Murphy \nWritten more than twenty-two centuries ago\, Ecclesiastes is one of the Wisdom books of the Old Testament\, though many struggle with understanding its conflicting messages of futility and joy. And yet\, these timeless scriptures invite us to take a closer look and apply God’s gifts of wisdom in a society that is challenged by injustice\, oppression\, frustrations\, and greed. \nJoin us for this two-part program that engages participants through music and art to uncover a deeper awareness of the wisdom imparted in Ecclesiastes. Session 1 will focus on the first three chapters of Ecclesiastes\, including a deeper dive into Chapter 3 using the music of Pete Seeger as well as the art of Vincent van Gogh. Session 2 will focus on the last nine chapters of Ecclesiastes using the art of Van Gogh and will include a deeper dive into Chapter 8 using a 4-part structure that can be applied to understanding other passages in Ecclesiastes. \nAfter introductions and deeper dives\, each session will support quiet enjoyment of nineteen Van Gogh paintings paired with scripture passages from Ecclesiastes\, after which small breakout groups will discuss and then share with the larger group. Both sessions will end with provocative images and quotes to encourage attendees to continue their own artful applications of Ecclesiastes in today’s world. \nCheryl Duvall\, a lifelong artist and Vincent van Gogh enthusiast\, will facilitate this program that involves both passive and active engagement. During each session\, she will read select passages from Ecclesiastes while simultaneously displaying images from Van Gogh’s vast collection in a stimulating interpretation of this Book of Wisdom. She will invite discussion about using art and music to uncover deeper meanings to sacred scriptures\, helping us to apply God’s wisdom to today’s challenges. \nWe encourage you to participate in both sessions if your schedule allows. The Well is delighted to be able to offer three levels of pricing for both sessions so that you can choose the option that works best for you. If you can only join one session\, please do! \nDATES: Mondays – 8/4 and 8/11/25 \nTIME: 7:00 – 8:30 PM ET \nCOST: Please choose the pricing option that works best for you! (see link below) \nREGISTRATION is required; please register here. \nLOCATION: ZOOM \nIMPORTANT: You will receive an email from programming@wellforthejourney.org at least 24 hours in advance of the start of your program. If you are unable to find the email\, please check your SPAM or JUNK email folders. This email will include details to help you prepare for your program including any pertinent handouts\, location information\, and the ZOOM link for online programs. SUMMARY:Jimmy Carter’s Living Faith Book Study (Online Program)
DESCRIPTION:“Somewhat to my own surprise\, this has become a book whose core is love – the love that is possible among those who are closely related\, among strangers allied by a common dream or faith\, and even between people who begin by despising each other but find a way to see the image of God in each other’s humanity.”   ~ President Jimmy Carter\, Living Faith \nPublished in 1996\, more than a decade and a half after he left the office of U.S. President\, Jimmy Carter wrote a spiritual memoir about the breadth of his experiences during his political service to America. Living Faith examines this journey while probing Carter’s encompassing life with significant depth—the kind sourced from a durable faith that brings perseverance\, hope\, and compassion to every moment and encounter. It is filled to overflowing with stories of people whose lives have touched his\, including some from the world stage and many others from more modest walks of life. It reflects tenderly on his learnings about other faiths\, the process involved in forgiveness\, and the inspiration he received from theologians and family friends alike on the values of leading with love and patience. \nPlease join us for this two-part book study in which we will explore the meaning of faith in Jimmy Carter’s life as captured in his memoir\, where he considers the values closest to his heart and the personal beliefs that have nurtured and sustained him throughout his entire life. In each session\, we will highlight various passages from Living Faith as a community of spiritual seekers\, with opportunities for personal reflection and group discussion. Accompanied by moments of prayer/meditation\, writing prompts\, and additional contemplative exercises\, participants will be invited to engage with the heart of President Carter’s distinct and empowering message while connecting it to their respective life journeys\, leadership roles\, and interpersonal relationships. Time will also be allotted for optional sharing about what faith and some of its most authentic expressions look like in present-day circumstances. \nTake a break from Summer’s heat and step into this opportunity for spiritual encouragement and refreshment from the life and perspective of one of our most admired Americans! You can join us from anywhere that is optimal for you as each session is being facilitated online. Reading Living Faith in advance of this book study is not required but is welcomed. And\, we think you will enjoy it! \nDATE: Wednesdays\, 8/13 and 8/20/25 \nTIME: 1:00 – 3:00 PM ET \nCOST: $45 \nREGISTRATION is required; please register here. \nLOCATION: ZOOM \nIMPORTANT: You will receive an email from programming@wellforthejourney.org at least 24 hours in advance of the start of your program. SUMMARY:Yoga Nidra: A Guided Meditation Practice (Online Program)
DESCRIPTION:I love Jamila’s facilitation\, pace\, tone of voice\, and giftedness in leading this practice. I ALWAYS feel better after the sessions and have a good and restful sleep that night. – Lorie Conway \nWonderful session with Jamila! She is a fantastic facilitator and I truly enjoy her content and delivery. Very healing experience! – Toni Rasmussen \nThe program is not designed to foster active engagement because it is meditative\, but does give a strong sense that all participants are in community together for the meditation experience. The facilitator is warm and welcoming. – Katie Bass \nThank you Jamila for holding such a sacred space for us. The rhythm and tone of your voice aided in helping move into that “twilight” space of Yoga Nidra. Thank you! – Past Participant \nYoga Nidra is a guided meditation practice that helps to relax the mind and body by doing “nothing.” This ancient practice produces a profound state of rest and relaxation simply by listening. \nOne hour of Yoga Nidra is said to be as restorative as four hours of sleep. As the mind slows down\, the whirlwind of thoughts holding our attention begin to move away from us as we float in the space between waking and sleeping. As you disengage from stress-producing thoughts\, the body\, mind\, and spirit begin to rest and heal naturally. Modern research continues to affirm the benefits of Yoga Nidra\, showing significant reductions in anxiety\, stress\, and depression after guided mediation. Many participants report improved sleep\, a deep sense of calm\, and renewed energy. \nResting comfortably in your own home\, the practice can be done lying down or in a seated position with your feet up. All you have to do is listen. Suggestions for your comfort include: \n\nA quiet place to lie down or recline\nA pillow for your head and under your knees\nA blanket and socks for warmth\nIf desired\, an eye mask or pillow to block light\nA glass of water nearby\n\n\nThe Well is delighted to continue offering this deeply healing and restorative practice in collaboration with certified Kripalu Mindful Outdoor Guide\, Yoga Instructor\, and I Am Yoga Nidra Facilitator\, Jamila Keita. If you are new to meditation\, have never tried or been successful at meditation\, or are just curious about yoga without any yoga poses\, we encourage you to give Yoga Nidra a try. You will be amazed at how easily you will achieve a meditative state with Jamila’s gentle guidance and soothing voice. \nNew This Season – Never Miss A Session! Each Yoga Nidra session will be recorded. The sessions are being offered twice a month on a Monday and Tuesday evening. A link to the recording will be emailed to registered participants the following day and will be available for three (3) days. You can listen as often as you like until the link expires after 3 days. \nGive yourself (and maybe a loved one!) the gift of deep rest and relaxation. Your body\, mind\, and spirit will thank you! \n\n  \nDATES: Mondays – 9/15\, 10/13\, 11/10\, 12/1/25 and Tuesdays – 9/30\, 10/28\, 11/18\, 12/16/25 \nTIME: 7:30 – 8:30 PM ET \nCOST: $20 \nLOCATION: ZOOM \nREGISTRATION is required; please register here. \nIMPORTANT: You will receive an email from programming@wellforthejourney.org at least 24 hours in advance of the start of your program. Please be sure you have received and read this email a minimum of 24 hours in advance of the start of the program.

SUMMARY:Anam Cara – A Soul Care Group for Spiritual Caregivers (Online Program - Morning Group)
DESCRIPTION:“I have appreciated having a space with people\, colleagues…The ability to walk and journal\, having that time carved out so other things don’t get in the way of it is helpful.” – Rev Andy McClain\n \n“I needed a community where I could be myself as an African American woman…Our Anam Cara group became the place where I could be just that. Authenticity and integrity seemed to be primary values for the group from the first time I entered.” – Rev. Freda Marie Brown\n \n“…I loved the opportunity to share new thoughts and ideas as I underwent my own spiritual transformation. I loved the openness and the refreshing way we all supported each other’s voices\, accepting with interest and love whatever was being offered\, without judgement.  – Rev. Freda Marie Brown\n \nI value opportunities for creativity\, contemplation\, and connection…and for curiosity about how it goes with each participant: How goes retirement? How goes vocational discernment? How goes caring for loved ones? How goes raising children?” – Rev. Clare Petersberger\n \n“Our Anam Cara gatherings remind me to mark the time through the changing seasons of the year and of our lives with soul friends. For all of these are holy things we will not\, cannot\, find again.” – Rev Clare Petersberger\n  \nCaring for others can be deeply meaningful—and deeply depleting. For ministers\, chaplains\, spiritual companions\, and others who offer soul care\, the act of holding sacred space for others can come at the cost of your own spiritual nourishment. The Well’s Anam Cara (Soul Friend) Group is a space created just for you—a place to receive the care you regularly encourage for others – soul care. \nThis small group\, sacred community welcomes spiritual caregivers (active\, retired\, or on sabbatical) to rest\, reflect\, and be. There are no roles to fill or responsibilities to carry. Here\, you are invited to water your own soul\, speak freely or remain silent\, and simply show up as you are—without judgment or expectation. \nWe are honored to welcome back Cecilia Amaral as facilitator for another year of Anam Cara. Cecilia has a deep commitment to encourage others to nurture authentic and thriving relationships with themselves\, others\, and their environments. Cecilia brings extensive experience working with spiritual caregivers and clergy from many faith traditions on an individual basis\, in groups\, and with denominational staff. She is uniquely gifted in holding space for those navigating the weight and complexity of spiritual companionship and leadership today. \nDue to high interest\, we are delighted to offer two online groups this year! Both groups will meet on the first Monday of the month\, October through June (with adjustments for holy days and holidays\, as needed): \n\nMorning Group – 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM ET (This website page you are reading right now is for the morning group!)\nEvening Group – 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM ET\n\n\nEach session follows a spacious rhythm: \n\nA check-in time with one another\nA reflection prompt offered by Cecila\n30 minutes of quiet\, off-screen personal reflection\nOptional sharing and a closing blessing\n\n\nCome be part of one of these nurturing circles. Let this be a season where your soul is tended with the same compassionate soul care you offer others. \nPlease Note: This registration is for the Morning Sessions. \nDATES: Mondays – 10/6\, 11/3\, 12/1/25 and 1/5\, 2/2\, 3/2\, 4/6\, 5/4\, 6/1/26 \nTIME: 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM ET \nCOST: $95 \nLOCATION: ZOOM \nREGISTRATION is required; please register here. \nIMPORTANT: You will receive an email from programming@wellforthejourney.org at least 24 hours in advance of the start of your program. Her decision to retire after more than 25 years as a Pastoral Psychotherapist and Educator has transitioned into her current practice as Spiritual Director and Certified Professional Life Coach. Cecilia’s integrated approach in companioning others on their journey leads to meaningful\, personal\, and relational transformation. \nCecilia began her involvement with the mission of the Well by referring clients to use the programs offered for their well-being.

Please be sure you have received and read this email a minimum of 24 hours in advance of the start of the program.
