SUMMARY:The Gift of Deep Rest: An Hour of Yoga Nidra Meditation (Online Program)
DESCRIPTION:What comes to mind when you see the word “yoga?” Downward Dogs? Sun Salutations? Sitting on the floor with your legs in a pretzel? Well\, think again! \nYoga Nidra means “yogic sleep” and the only movement involved is whatever it takes for you to recline in a comfy chair or lie down on a bed\, sofa\, or mat on the floor. This is a guided mindfulness meditation practice that helps to relax the mind and body by simply listening to the teacher’s prompts and resting in stillness. One hour of yoga nidra is said to be as restorative as four hours of sleep. \nThe yoga wisdom teachers of the past knew the importance of rest and relaxation for health and wellbeing and passed this practice down through the ages to us. As the mind slows down\, the whirlwind of thoughts holding our attention begin to move away from us as we float in the space between waking and sleeping. As you disengage from stress-producing thoughts\, the body\, mind\, and spirit begin to rest and heal naturally. Modern research continues to affirm the benefits of Yoga Nidra\, showing significant reductions in anxiety\, stress\, and depression after guided mediation. Many participants report improved sleep\, a deep sense of calm\, and renewed energy. \nRather than driving to a yoga studio\, lying on the floor\, and driving back home again\, the Well invites you to rest comfortably in your own home (in your PJs with your camera off\, if you wish!). Suggestions for your comfort include: \n\nA quiet place to lie down or recline\nA pillow for your head and under your knees\nA blanket and socks for warmth\nIf desired\, an eye mask or pillow to block light\nA glass of water nearby\n\nThe Well is delighted to continue offering this deeply healing and restorative practice with certified Kripalu Mindful Outdoor Guide\, Yoga Instructor\, and I Am Yoga Nidra Facilitator\, Jamila Keita. If you are new to meditation\, have never tried or been successful at meditation\, or are just curious about yoga without any yoga poses\, we encourage you to give Yoga Nidra a try. You will be amazed at how easily you will achieve a meditative state with Jamila’s gentle guidance and soothing voice. \nPlus – Never Miss A Session! Each Yoga Nidra session will be recorded. A link to the recording will be emailed to registered participants the following day and will be available for five (5) days. You can listen as often as you like until the link expires after 5 days. \nGive yourself (and maybe a loved one!) the gift of deep rest and relaxation. Your body\, mind\, and spirit will thank you! \nDATE: Tuesdays – 9/29\, 10/13\, 11/10\, 12/8/26\, and 1/12/27 \nTIME: 7:30 – 8:30 PM ET \nCOST: $25 per session \nLOCATION: ZOOM \nREGISTRATION is required; please register here. \nIMPORTANT: You will receive an email from programming@wellforthejourney.org at least 24 hours in advance of the start of your program. If you are unable to find the email\, please check your SPAM or JUNK email folders. This email will include details to help you prepare for your program including any pertinent handouts\, location information\, and the ZOOM link for online programs. Please be sure you have received and read this email a minimum of 24 hours in advance of the start of the program. Thank you! \nFACILITATOR: Jamila Keita \nFACILITATOR BIO: \nHi! My name is Evangeline “Jamila” Keita. I’ve been practicing yoga for almost 25 years and decided to teach yoga as my “retirement job.” It was during my yoga training (YT200) that I was introduced to Yoga Nidra. Immediately after completing YT200 in 2014\, I took my first Yoga Nidra training. Since that time\, I’ve taken subsequent trainings in Yoga Nidra in 2017 and 2021. I love this practice. \n\nDuring the shutdown\, I found “nature therapy.” This led me to complete a course through “The Kripalu School of Outdoor Leadership” and become a KMOG (Kripalu Mindful Outdoor Guide). \nI currently teach two yoga classes per week on Zoom. Each class includes poses and a short Yoga Nidra session. Since 2022\, I have provided weekly Yoga Nidra sessions for Hopewell Cancer Support Center and occasional Mindful Outdoor Experiences (MOEs). Additionally\, I work for Nature Worx\, a non-profit that provides MOEs to persons in recovery and the general public. \nI never imagined this second career as it is\, but it seems like a natural evolution to me. I hope you enjoy my offerings.

SUMMARY:Noticing the Gifts: A Praying in Color Meditation with the Poetry of Mary Oliver (Online Program)
DESCRIPTION:“Every day I see or hear\nsomething\nthat more or less\nkills me\nwith delight…”\n– Mary Oliver \n \n\nAs Thanksgiving approaches\, we are invited to pause and notice the many gifts that surround us—both ordinary and extraordinary. Yet the invitation to live with gratitude is one we can carry with us every day. In her poem Mindful\, Mary Oliver reminds us that a life of gratitude begins with the simple practice of being present to the world around us. \nYou are invited to start your Thanksgiving week in a guided\, contemplative meditation inspired by Mindful. Together\, we will listen deeply to Mary’s words as an invitation to awaken our senses\, open our hearts\, and cultivate a deeper awareness of the blessings woven into everyday life. \nWe will then spend unhurried time responding through the spiritual practice of Praying in Color—a simple\, creative form of prayer and meditation that uses color and doodling to quiet the mind\, focus the heart\, and make space for insight and wonder. \nNo prior experience or artistic skill is needed. All you need is white paper and colorful doodling utensils such as colored pencils\, markers\, crayons\, or pens. Lorie will guide each step of this gentle and meaningful practice. \nWhether you are discovering Praying in Color for the first time or returning to a familiar practice\, this spacious time offers a gentle space to notice\, wonder\, and give thanks for the gifts that are already here. \nDATE: Monday\, November 23\, 2026 \nTIME: 7:00 – 8:30 PM ET \nCOST: In our ongoing effort to provide meaningful programming for all\, we are pleased to offer three cost options for this program – $20\, $25\, $30. Please choose the option that works best for you. \nLOCATION: ZOOM \nREGISTRATION is required. Please register here. SUMMARY:Resisting the Rush: The Practice of Advent (Online Program)
DESCRIPTION:To the animals it makes all the difference.\nTheir hope\, and the hope of all that breathes\,\nis that human ones abandon themselves to the One Great Love.\nFor that\, all creation waits.\n~ Gayle Boss\, All Creation Waits: The Advent Mystery of New Beginnings \n \nAdvent is a season of waiting—not passive waiting\, but the sacred practice of making space for what is coming. In the midst of busy days and full calendars\, we are invited to resist the rush toward Christmas and instead pause\, listen deeply\, and make room for the mystery of One Great Love. \nJoin us online on Monday evenings during Advent for a time to slow down in sacred community. Drawing on stories from All Creation Waits: The Advent Mystery of New Beginnings by Gayle Boss\, we will ponder the wisdom of animals as they respond to the changing season by slowing down\, entering the darkness\, and surrendering to the Mystery. \nEach week will include an opening prayer and time of centering\, a story from All Creation Waits\, an invitation for reflection and deepening\, and an opportunity to share or simply listen\, as you feel comfortable. \nRather than adding one more thing to your Advent calendar\, consider this invitation an act of resistance to the rush—a sacred pause in which to breathe\, receive\, and make room for the Mystery. In the company of one another and the creatures of the earth\, we will listen for the quiet ways Love is being born among us. \nEach week stands on its own\, so you are welcome to join us for one\, several\, or all four as your Advent journey allows. \nDATE: Mondays – 11/30\, 12/7\, 12/14\, and 12/21/26 \nTIME: 7:00 – 8:30 PM ET \nCOST: $25 per week or $80 for all 4 weeks \nLOCATION: Zoom \nREGISTRATION is required; please register here. \nIMPORTANT: You will receive an email from programming@wellforthejourney.org at least 24 hours in advance of the start of your program. SUMMARY:Anam Cara - A Soul Care Group for Clergy\, Chaplains\, and Spiritual Caregivers (Online Program)
DESCRIPTION:Anam cara is an old Gaelic phrase meaning “soul friend”—a relationship grounded in deep listening\, trust\, compassionate presence\, and welcome. In the Celtic spiritual tradition\, the anam cara was someone with whom one could share the deepest parts of oneself and be received without judgment. Spiritual caregivers are often the ones creating this kind of meaningful space for others. For ministers\, chaplains\, spiritual companions\, and others who offer soul care\, the act of holding sacred space for others can come at the cost of your own spiritual nourishment. Where do you go to be held? Who tends to the person who is continually tending to others? \nThe Well’s Anam Cara is a space created just for you— a small\, sacred community where spiritual caregivers (active\, retired\, or on sabbatical) can set down their roles\, rest from responsibility\, and receive the nourishment they so often offer to others\, and simply be. Each session follows a spacious rhythm of connection and reflection\, including check-in time with one another\, reflection prompts\, off-screen personal reflection time\, optional sharing\, and a closing blessing. This is intentional time to pause\, breathe\, listen inwardly\, and receive. \nWe are honored to welcome back Cecilia Amaral for another year of Anam Cara. Cecilia brings extensive experience accompanying spiritual caregivers and clergy from many faith traditions\, both individually and in groups\, as well as working with denominational staff. Cecilia is uniquely gifted at holding compassionate space for those navigating the weight and complexity of spiritual companionship and leadership today. \nCome be part of this nurturing sacred community. Let this be a season where your soul is tended with the same compassionate soul care you offer others. \nDATE: Mondays – 10/5\, 11/2\, 12/7/26 and 1/4\, 2/1\, 3/1\, 4/5\, 5/3\, and 6/7/27 \nTIME: 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM ET \nCOST: In our ongoing effort to provide meaningful programming for all\, we are pleased to offer three cost options for this program – $70\, $90\, $110. Please choose the option that works best for you. \nLOCATION: ZOOM \nREGISTRATION is required; please register here. Thank you! \nFACILITATOR: Cecilia Amaral \nFACILITATOR BIO: \nCecilia Amaral has a deep commitment to encourage others to nurture authentic and thriving relationships with themselves\, others\, and their environments. Her decision to retire after more than 25 years as a Pastoral Psychotherapist and Educator has transitioned into her current practice as Spiritual Director and Certified Professional Life Coach. Cecilia’s integrated approach in companioning others on their journey leads to meaningful\, personal\, and relational transformation. \n\nCecilia began her involvement with the mission of the Well by referring clients to use the programs offered for their well-being. This evolved into her service as a board member\, Board Chair\, Circle Chair\, and Spiritual Guide to the Board of Directors.

\nIMPORTANT: You will receive an email from programming@wellforthejourney.org at least 24 hours in advance of the start of your program. If you are unable to find the email\, please check your SPAM or JUNK email folders.

SUMMARY:Spirituality & Sobriety: A Four-Part Exploration of Sobriety as Spiritual Practice (Online Program)
DESCRIPTION:From Dry January to Sober October\, sobriety is increasingly part of a broader cultural and generational shift. From NA beverages on grocery store shelves to thoughtfully crafted mocktails on restaurant menus\, more people are choosing sobriety for a season or a lifetime. And many who choose this lifestyle discover that the choice extends far beyond abstinence\, into a life lived with greater clarity\, presence\, and intention. \nSpirituality & Sobriety is a four-part online series for those who are sober or sober-curious. This program is not a recovery or support group and does not promote or endorse any single path. Instead\, it offers a guided and safe space to explore sobriety as a practice of awareness\, connection\, and alignment with one’s core values. Sobriety\, or the movement toward it\, can bring us into greater clarity about the unfolding nature of our life\, supporting a more honest and compassionate relationship with ourselves and others. \nEach 90-minute session integrates teaching\, embodied awareness practices\, and small group conversation\, with safe space for both shared and private reflection. Participants are invited\, but never required\, to share. The group itself becomes a place to practice being with others differently: listening without fixing\, allowing others to be who they are\, and cultivating being over doing. \nBecause this series invites honest reflection and meaningful conversation\, Session One is required before attending subsequent sessions. We will use that first gathering to establish the shared agreements\, trust\, and practices that help create a safe and grounded space for the conversations that follow. \nThe Four Sessions:\n\nSession One – The Spiritual Side of Sobriety\nWhat does sobriety have to do with spirituality? We’ll explore sobriety as more than abstinence—as a practice that can deepen awareness\, presence\, freedom\, and connection to our inner lives. \nSession Two – Sobriety\, Our Feelings and Our Stories\nSobriety can stir up assumptions\, emotions\, family histories\, and old narratives. We’ll explore how to distinguish what is true for us from the stories we carry about what sobriety means. \nSession Three – Sobriety\, Vulnerability and Honesty\nSobriety asks for honesty—with ourselves and\, sometimes\, with others. We’ll explore the relationship between vulnerability\, courage\, and the compassionate truth-telling that supports a more authentic life. \nSobriety\, Kindness and Self-Compassion\nChoosing sobriety is an ongoing act of care. We’ll explore why kindness and self-compassion are not indulgences\, but foundational spiritual practices for sustaining change\, growth\, and wholeness. \nWhether you are sober or are considering sobriety for a season or a lifetime\, this program offers a thoughtful\, non-prescriptive environment with practical frameworks and language led by an experienced and caring facilitator who knows how to create and hold generative space. Utilizing wisdom from a spectrum of traditions and teachers\, this will be a supportive engagement grounded in curiosity\, respect\, and lived experience. \nDATES: Wednesdays – 1/6\, 1/13\, 1/20 and 1/27/27 \nTIME: 7:00 – 8:30 PM ET \nCOST: $110 for All Four Sessions or $30 per Session \nLOCATION: ZOOM \nREGISTRATION is required. Please register here. \nIMPORTANT: You will receive an email from programming@wellforthejourney.org at least 24 hours in advance of the start of your program. SUMMARY:Mary Oliver Mystic Series (Online\, 3-part program)
DESCRIPTION:“This is a warm and welcoming workshop. The facilitators are warm\, knowledgeable\, and loving. They create a wonderful environment that is inclusive and healing. I connect to Mary Oliver so much more after engaging in this class and have found ways to be more succinct in my writing. I found great solace and joy from participating. I highly recommend this workshop.” – Sandra Perez \n“The Mary Oliver program is the best thing to look forward to in January!” – Cindy Hilbert \n“I am impressed by the gentle but effective presenters; clear instructions and very helpful activities were provided; participants were engaged and open to a deep level of sharing. I am grateful to have experienced this offering for my own spiritual journey.” – Deb Durand \n************************************************************* \n“Ten times a day something happens to me like this – some strengthening throb of amazement – some good sweet empathic ping and swell. This is the first\, the wildest and the wisest thing I know: that the soul exists and is built entirely out of attentiveness.”\n– Mary Oliver \n\nMary Oliver\, a modern mystic and one of America’s most beloved poets\, was known for her compassionate\, attentive presence to the natural world. Amid the harshness and uncertainty of life\, Oliver found sanctuary\, wonder\, and hope in nature—and generously shared what she discovered in simple\, soulful language that stirs both the heart and the imagination. \nThe author of more than 25 books of poetry and prose\, Oliver received numerous honors\, including the National Book Award and the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry. Yet perhaps her greatest gift was her invitation to pay attention to the world around us\, to the stirrings within us\, and to the mystery that meets us in both. \nDuring our time together\, Greg Cochran and Sr. Kathy McNany will offer contemplative readings of selected poems\, writing prompts\, personal reflection\, and group conversation. Having gracefully facilitated this annual program for the past 13 years\, Greg and Sr. Kathy invite you to enter once again—or for the first time—into the rich and contemplative world of Mary Oliver. \nCome for one session\, two\, or all three as we linger with Oliver’s poems and listen for what they might awaken in us. Through Oliver’s mystical eyes and ears\, mind and heart\, we will explore the sacred mystery woven through the ordinary and make space for wonder\, self-discovery\, and hope.\n\n \nDATES: Thursdays – January 7\, 14\, and 21\, 2027 \nTIME: 1:00 – 3:00 PM ET \nCOST: $110 for all 3 sessions or $45 per session \nLOCATION: ZOOM \nREGISTRATION is required; please register here. \nIMPORTANT: You will receive an email from programming@wellforthejourney.org at least 24 hours in advance of the start of your program.

SUMMARY:Whose Footsteps Are We Following? (Online Program)
DESCRIPTION:“ We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline.”\n~ Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King\, Jr. \n\nRev. Dr. Martin Luther King\, Jr. is remembered in many circles as a “foot soldier” or a “drum major.” In states where the third Monday in January is observed as Dr. King’s birthday\, and a federal holiday\, it is a day focused on community service and acts of kindness for our neighbor. \nIn honor of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday\, we will gather in online community to ponder the question\, “Whose footsteps are we following?” Acts of service can feel especially challenging in these chaotic and uncertain times\, and yet we continue to be guided by Rev. Dr. King\, Jr.’s ultimate dream stated in his famous speech on the Washington Mall in 1963\, “We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline.” How might we live that call today? Perhaps it begins with the simple\, yet powerful\, practice of loving our neighbors through acts of kindness\, compassion\, generosity\, and other human behaviors that help attend to social challenges and uncertainties. \nIf you feel called to ponder this question\, join beloved retreat facilitator Rev. Sandra Dorsainvil in a time of contemplation and reflection using the spiritual practices of visio divina (sacred seeing with images) and creative journal writing. Our time together will help us lean more intentionally into action steps that can be done guided by prayers\, in “Kairos” or Spirit-led time\, and knowing that members of our cloud of witnesses have walked streets before us in dignity and discipline. These practices invite us to stay open to how and when our action steps will surface\, trusting that we made time to pause and reflect in a community of like-hearted souls. \nJoin us for this time of reflection and hope for what our footsteps can co-create with Spirit in 2027. \nDATE: Sunday\, January 17\, 2027 \nTIME: 4:00 – 5:30 PM \nCOST: In our ongoing effort to provide meaningful programming for all\, we are pleased to offer three cost options for this program – $15\, $25\, $35. Please choose the option that works best for you. \nLOCATION: ZOOM \nREGISTRATION is required; please register here. \nIMPORTANT: You will receive an email from programming@wellforthejourney.org at least 24 hours in advance of the start of your program.
SUMMARY:Spiritual Autobiography: Exploring the Story of Your Life Through Writing (6-Part Online Series)
DESCRIPTION:I appreciate the safe space Amy created and the intimacy within the group she was able to facilitate even though the program was conducted remotely\, which I liked by the way. Amy also shared her resources with the group participants sending them out immediately after each session. I admired how Amy conducted herself throughout the program. Amy modeled respect and what it looked like to stand outside of judgement. I would welcome the opportunity to participate in any program Amy facilitated and am most grateful for having had this experience. – Theresa M. \nMagnificent program and facilitation! Most appreciated! – Emily K. \nAmy is a wonderful and gifted facilitator. She is talented at creating and holding a sacred space for the group. The prompts she suggested encouraged deep reflection. – Jean Anne W. \n******************** \nIrish poet Pádraig Ó Tuama reminds us that we are all “story full and lovely.” Our stories hold the memories\, relationships\, questions\, joys\, losses\, discoveries\, and turning points that have shaped us. They help us remember where we have been—and perhaps notice something new about where we are going. \nOver the course of six sessions\, with reflective time between gatherings\, we will explore our own spiritual autobiographies through writing and other creative practices. Gentle prompts will invite us to remember and reflect on the moments\, people\, places\, questions\, and experiences that have shaped our inner lives. \nWe all live this spiritual journey every day\, whether or not we are grounded in a specific religious tradition. Indeed\, most wisdom traditions affirm that our spiritual or inward journey unfolds in the ordinary moments of our days—in what we love\, what we struggle with\, what awakens wonder\, what breaks our hearts\, and what gives us hope. By writing with and for other attentive writers\, we will honor the things that make us human together and share\, as Ó Tuama invites “the things that do not fade: generosity\, truth-telling\, silence\, respect\, and love.” \nThis is not a traditional writing workshop. We gather not to offer feedback or critique one another’s work or to offer advice about how to write a spiritual autobiography. Instead\, we will practice the sacred art of listening. We will write\, share\, and receive one another’s stories with openness and care\, receiving the gifts that flow through each other’s generous sharing of our lives\, and to open ourselves to our own story. \nWe are delighted to welcome back Amy Schmaljohn for another session of this beloved program. Join Amy and others to remember\, write\, and share the journey that is uniquely your own. \nNo previous writing experience is required—only a willingness to wonder about your own story. \nDATE: Mondays – 1/25\, 2/1\, 2/8\, 2/22\, 3/1\, and 3/8/27 \nTIME: 6:30 – 8:30 PM ET \nCOST: Early Bird Discount (prior to 12/15/26) – $175; Regular Cost (12/15 and after) – $195.  We have an registration deadline for this program of 1/18/27.  Please register early! \nLOCATION: ZOOM \nREGISTRATION is required. Please register here. \nIMPORTANT: You will receive an email from programming@wellforthejourney.org at least 24 hours in advance of the start of your program. Please be sure you have received and read this email a minimum of 24 hours in advance of the start of the program. Thank you! \nFACILITATOR: Amy Schmaljohn \nFACILITATOR BIO: \nAmy Schmaljohn enjoyed a 35 year career as a leader and teacher in both higher education and at Friends School of Baltimore (Quaker). Her classrooms offered students opportunities to explore world literature and art\, movements for nonviolent social transformation\, and the human experience of religion across global traditions. A member of Gunpowder Friends Meeting (Quaker)\, she leads contemplative spiritual retreats in the tradition of the Religious Society of Friends and offers spiritual deepening programs for seekers in the Baltimore region. She is enlivened by the sharing of our stories\, by the mystery and power of the written word\, and by her daily encounters with the natural world just outside her doorstep. Amy and her husband Alan\, a retired virologist\, live in northwestern Baltimore County\, where they steward seventeen acres of woodland\, meadow and streams that have been placed in the Maryland Environmental Trust and serve as a gathering space for those seeking immersive experiences in nature.

If you are unable to find the email\, please check your SPAM or JUNK email folders. This email will include details to help you prepare for your program including any pertinent handouts\, location information\, and the ZOOM link for online programs.

SUMMARY:Winter Zentangle (Online 3-Session Series - choose one\, two\, or all three)
DESCRIPTION:Zentangle® has returned to the Well! We are delighted to welcome Certified Zentangle Teacher\, Lauri Shaw\, to the Well for this simple\, calming and creative meditative practice. \nDuring this winter series\, Lauri will guide participants in creating beautiful images by drawing structured patterns\, one step at a time\, while also exploring some of the philosophy behind the Zentangle method. With each stroke\, we’ll slow down\, quiet the mind\, and discover the possibility of being fully present. \nNo art or Zentangle experience is necessary. All you need is paper\, a pencil\, a black fine line pen\, and a few Q-Tips or a blending tool. \nAlthough Zentangle drawings may look intricate\, the process is surprisingly simple and accessible. Along with Lauri’s live demonstrations and verbal guidance\, participants will receive handouts before each class to help them follow along. \nEach session stands on its own\, so you may register for one\, two\, or all three sessions. All sessions will be recorded\, and recordings will be sent to everyone who registers\, so you can participate at your own pace even if you cannot attend live. \nWhether you are new to Zentangle or a returning practitioner\, take a couple of hours this winter to set aside your stress and enjoy this creative time in the comfort of your own home. There are no mistakes in Zentangle—only opportunities to see where the next line leads. \nDATES & TIMES:\n· Tuesday\, 2/16/27 – 6:30 – 8:30 PM ET\n· Thursday\, 2/25/27 – 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM ET\n· Sunday\, 3/7/27 – 3:00 – 5:00 PM ET \nCOST: $60 for All Three Sessions or $25 per Session \nLOCATION: ZOOM \nREGISTRATION is required; please register here.
If you are unable to find the email\, please check your SPAM or JUNK email folders.

Thank you! \nFACILITATOR: Lauri Shaw\, CZT \nFACILITATOR BIO:\n I live in Maryland with my husband and three cats. Like many Tanglers I’ve met\, I got involved with Zentangle during Covid as more online classes started popping up. I finally decided to become a CZT (Certified Zentangle Teacher) in 2024\, and I liked it so much that I went back the next year with a friend\, so I am a CZT42 and CZT43. Up until June I was a part-time librarian at the Owings Mills library. It was a wonderful and fulfilling job\, but now I’m currently enjoying retirement. And when I say “enjoying\,” I mean that I’m LOVING retirement!
