SUMMARY:Who Do I Say I Am? - Giving Voice to Our Sacred Story (In-Person Program)
DESCRIPTION:I would like to express my deep gratitude to Rev. Sandra. The experience was both insightful and deeply moving.  Listening to each woman share her journey and perspective reminded me of the power that comes from showing up with authenticity and courage. The honesty\, care\, and openness that filled the space created a truly meaningful sense of belonging and connection. It was a gift to witness and be part of such a compassionate and passionate community. I left feeling inspired\, grounded\, and more committed to honoring my own story while making room for the stories of others. – Laura Lindamore \nGreat opportunity for a multicultural spiritual experience that was a beautiful way for soul sisters to connect\, commune and share our stories. – Bev Gorman \nRev. Sandra was a great facilitator and so at ease\, compassionate\, loving\, and Present. Her demeanor set the tone for our time together and for all of us. I’m glad I decided to say “yes” to this workshop! – Freda Marie Brown \n**************************************************************************************************************** \nWhen we reject the single story\, when we realize that there is never a single story…we regain a kind of paradise. – Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie \nWe are thrilled to welcome back Rev. Sandra Dorsainvil for an expanded version of her popular retreat—Who Do I Say I Am? Sandra first offered this retreat at the Well as a half-day experience that left participants feeling inspired\, grounded\, and yearning for more. \nOur lives are not linear\, and the world is often too quick to dictate or impose its own lenses on the personal stories we carry. Yet the power of a person’s voice is theirs alone\, and our hearts are privileged to receive their testimonies. We are more than a name\, title\, or circumstance. In this day-long retreat\, we will explore how to choose a story to share that honors our identity\, and how to listen intentionally—without judgement— to the stories of others. \nJesus asked Peter\, “Who do you say that I am?” We are invited into that same sacred question. Let us dare to answer it as we affirm our voice\, our identity\, and our need to belong. \nSandra will gently invite participants to engage in a variety of contemplative practices\, including journaling\, meditative reflection\, creative art\, quiet sitting\, prayer walking\, and group conversation alongside the sanctity of telling and receiving personal\, single stories. As the day unfolds\, participants will be encouraged to courageously express their own voice in answering the question “Who do I say I am?” within a safe and sacred community. \nHow one chooses to share their chosen story is up to them. It may take the form of poetry\, prose\, drawing\, painting\, dance\, or even silent mime. As God’s beloved\, how we receive what is before us is its own testimony. \nIt is up to us to honor our story and share it as we wish it to be remembered. You are warmly welcomed to join Sandra and fellow seekers for this meaningful day of reflection\, creativity\, and connection—a journey of listening\, belonging\, and owning who you are. Please bring a bag lunch. Snacks and drinks will be provided. \nDATE: Saturday\, May 30\, 2026 \nTIME: 9:30 AM – 4:00 PM \nCOST: $70 \nREGISTRATION for this program is required and will close on 5/21/26. Please register early for planning purposes. Thank you! REGISTER HERE. \nLOCATION: Well for the Journey – 120 W. SUMMARY:Following in the Footsteps of the Monks’ Walk for Peace: Using Mindful Self-Compassion During Challenging Times (In-Person)
DESCRIPTION:Our nervous systems\, bodies\, hearts\, and minds are being assaulted almost daily by the pace of change in the world and daily encounters with pain\, uncertainty\, and suffering. The ancient practices of mindfulness can be a balm to modern overwhelm to help us find more balance and ease in our daily walk. \nThe Monks’ Walk for Peace offered us a gentle but powerful witness: a steady\, embodied practice of presence\, compassion\, and kindness to all people. Step by step\, the monks modeled what it means to walk through the world with mindful awareness and deep care—for others and for oneself. These workshops are an invitation to carry on the monks’ simple yet powerful teachings with the guidance of a highly experienced mindfulness teacher\, Amy Bloom Connolly. \nThe Well is delighted to welcome Amy\, the Founder and Director of the Center for Mindful Awareness in the Baltimore/DC region\, whose mission is to bring mindfulness into the lives of under-resourced people and the professionals who support them. This program\, based on decades of Amy’s studying and teaching mindfulness to others\, invites us to respond skillfully\, rather than react automatically to what arises with greater self-compassion\, equanimity and joy. Designed to be reflective\, interactive\, and experiential\, these gatherings will weave together mindfulness practices that are accessible\, heartfelt\, and nurturing. \nParticipants will learn how to weave the simplicity of ancient practices and wisdom into the modern and complex challenges of contemporary life—building continuity\, practice\, and community. This program can benefit both new and experienced meditators. Come as you are to explore\, learn\, and practice in the safe and sacred community at the Well. \nYou are welcome to attend one\, two\, or all three of these sessions as your schedule allows. \nDATE: Wednesdays – 6/3\, 6/17\, 7/1/2026 \nTIME: 1:00 – 3:00 PM \nCOST: $40 per Session or $105 for All Three Sessions \nLOCATION: Well for the Journey – 120 W. Seminary Ave\, Lutherville-Timonium\, MD 21093 \nREGISTRATION is required; please register here. \nIMPORTANT: You will receive an email from programming@wellforthejourney.org at least 24 hours in advance of the start of your program. SUMMARY:Summoning Summer: Writing Its Wonders and Woes in Poetry (In-Person Program)
DESCRIPTION:“I enjoyed the class very much with Kitty’s leadership. She made the class fun and I did not feel intimidated. I had fun with the other ladies in the class collaborating during the group exercise. I am grateful to have joined the class.” – a past participant \n“I loved writing out the group poem for us to copy and take. This felt so good.” – a past participant \n**************************************************************************** \nAh Summertime! \nVacation. Family celebrations. Oceans and swimming pools. Earth erupting with gardens. Watermelon juice leaking onto redwood tables. Siestas in the sweet gum shade. Sun rearing high overhead\, Apollo’s horses driven by an August- bored teen. Camden Yards little-league dreams. But then there are also Thunderstorms\, Mosquitoes\, Complaining Kids\, and Itching Sunburn. \nSummer’s rich and deep associations\, especially those never-ending days of childhood summers\, plead for poems from us. \nIn this program\, poet and educator Kitty Yanson invites us to explore the archetype of summer with its many themes and symbolisms. Then we’ll look at some famous poems about summer\, paying particular attention to the concrete images that carry meaning and feeling to the reader. \nThrough guided journaling and creative prompts\, we will generate ideas and begin crafting poems. As a group\, we will collaborate on a communal haiku-series hymn to summer and then create our own unique personal summer manifesto. \nWe are delighted to welcome Kitty back to the Well for her second poetry workshop! No prior writing experience is needed. Just bring a notebook\, a pencil\, and a willingness to cast few spells summoning this season of heart and memory. \nDATE: Saturday\, June 6\, 2026 \nTIME: 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM \nCOST: Please choose the ticket option that works best for you! See registration link below for options. \nREGISTRATION is required; please register here. \nLOCATION: Well for the Journey – 120 W. Seminary Ave\, Lutherville-Timonium\, MD 21093 \nIMPORTANT: You will receive an email from programming@wellforthejourney.org at least 24 hours in advance of the start of your program. This email will include details to help you prepare for your program including any pertinent handouts\, location information\, and the ZOOM link for online programs. Please be sure you have received and read this email a minimum of 24 hours in advance of the start of the program. Thank you! \nFACILITATOR: Kitty Yanson \nFACILITATOR BIO: \nOld family stories told about one as a child have the resonance of myth. One does not know how much is actual truth and how much to explain a forming personality or to illustrate the values of one’s family. Nevertheless\, there is one about me: walking back from my grandmother’s house\, the four-year-old me asked my father\, “Where do thoughts go when you stop thinking them?” My fate was sealed: I became the family philosopher whether I wanted to live it out or not (which I kind of did). So I grew up studying art and stories and my own inner life and the tickings of peoples’ minds. Through it all\, I’m still wondering where thoughts go when you stop thinking them. \nI recently retired from a 35-year career as an English teacher at Mercy High School where I taught creative writing\, journalism\, English\, and theatre. My formal education includes a BA in English Literature from Mt. St. Agnes College and a MS in Professional Writing\, Imaginative Concentration from Towson University. Prior to that I worked at the Baltimore Theatre Project and also free-lanced gardening and catering. While teaching\, I found that the creativities required for teaching and for writing really come from about the same place; retirement has happily diverted the channel back into writing and my new love\, painting. I have also been a member of one of Well for the Journey’s Group Spiritual Direction gatherings and previously led a program about exploring dream imagery with a Jungian lens.

SUMMARY:Horizons Men's Group 2025-2026 (In-Person)
DESCRIPTION:Most men do not feel they can talk freely about their spiritual journey. At Well For The Journey\, we feel differently. The Horizons Men’s Group at the Well is a place where honest conversations take place about how we live out our spirituality uniquely as men in the world – within our daily living. \nGreg Cochran\, Executive Director at the Well\, has been facilitating Horizons for over ten years. Past discussions have explored a wide range of topics including the deconstruction and reconstruction of faith\, navigating the first and second halves of life\, spirituality and imperfection\, why do bad things happen to good people\, what is Truth\, and what can we learn from other faith traditions – just to name a few! \nThis season\, the wisdom of Parker Palmer will inform our conversation through two of his books: \nA Hidden Wholeness: The Journey Toward an Undivided Life – explores the concept of living an “undivided life”—where one’s inner truth aligns with their outer actions and roles. \nLet Your Life Speak: Listening for the Voice of Vocation – explores what it means to find one’s true calling by deeply listening to one’s inner self and aligning with one’s authentic nature\, emphasizing that vocation isn’t a specific job title\, but rather a way of living authentically and embracing our unique gifts and limitations. \nDue to high interest\, we are pleased to offer two monthly groups this year – both graciously led by Greg! The Tuesday evening group will meet in-person at the Well and the Thursday evening group will meet online via Zoom. \nIf you are looking for a community where difficult questions are welcomed and explored from the unique perspective of male spirituality\, we have a place for you in Horizons. \nThis registration is for the in-person session on Tuesday evenings. \nDATES: Tuesdays – 10/14\, 11/18\, 12/16/25\, and 1/20\, 2/17\, 3/17\, 4/21\, 5/19\, and 6/9/26 \nTIME: 7:00 – 8:30 PM \nCOST: $200 \nLOCATION: Well for the Journey – 120 W. Seminary Ave\, Lutherville-Timonium\, MD 21093 \nREGISTRATION is required; please register here. \nIMPORTANT: You will receive an email from programming@wellforthejourney.org at least 24 hours in advance of the start of your program. DESCRIPTION:The practice of sound bathing has gained popularity recently but is actually a healing practice that is thousands of years old with deep roots in cultures around the world. Jenny Ehrhardt has been facilitating sound offerings for several years\, incorporating her first love as an herbalist into all that she offers. Integrating sound using crystal chakra bowls\, bells\, song\, and rattles with plants and sweetness from the earth\, opens our hearts and nourishes the soul for the healing of the world. What a perfect combination for the Well community and all who seek soul nourishment and healing for self and others! \nWe are thrilled to welcome Jenny back to the Well for another session of healing\, renewal and nourishment. Jenny will offer a time of stillness\, sacred listening\, reflection\, and alignment with spirit that invites us to take care of ourselves as well as send love and peace out into the world through our vibrations\, prayers and the collective spiritual intention of a sacred community. \nYou will be seated for this session which will begin with a time of introduction and honoring of each participant\, inviting plant spirit connection to our intentions/prayers and sound healing meditation. Healing sound helps break up trauma in the body and assists in releasing whatever no longer serves us. This is so important in our culture and world today. At the end of the session\, Jenny will share seasonal herbal tea and a sweet offering to help integrate and embody the experience. \nWe are thrilled that Jenny found the Well (literally in her own neighborhood!) and is sharing her gifts of love and presence now as part of the Well community. We invite you to join Jenny and trust this ancient healing process of soul sound weaving for the renewal of your body\, mind and spirit and the nourishment of your soul. \nPlease don’t delay! Jenny’s Sound Soul Weaving sessions at the Well sell out every time! \nDATE: Sunday\, June 14\, 2026 \nTIME: 2:00 – 4:00 PM \nCOST: $50 \nLOCATION: Well for the Journey – 120 W. Seminary Ave\, Lutherville-Timonium\, MD 21093 \nREGISTRATION is required; please register here. \nIMPORTANT: You will receive an email from programming@wellforthejourney.org at least 24 hours in advance of the start of your program. If you are unable to find the email\, please check your SPAM or JUNK email folders. This email will include details to help you prepare for your program including any pertinent handouts\, location information\, and the ZOOM link for online programs. Please be sure you have received and read this email a minimum of 24 hours in advance of the start of the program. Thank you! \nFACILITATOR: Jenny Ehrhardt \nFACILITATOR BIO: \nI have been fortunate to work with two other women facilitating sound offerings on the Eastern Shore. I have seen so many beautiful effects this work has had on so many people\, including myself. I feel honored to be working with the bowls and other sounds to help connect us to something much deeper\, Ourselves. Working with all ages on many different levels\, I see the peace come over most people in a very surprising way. I have been called to create small\, intimate sound offerings right here in my hometown. I am grateful to have found Well for the Journey\, which has become such a sacred place for me. I work deeply with the plants as well and had a small shoppe in Hampden for over 10 years. I have been called to service and I love plants\, sound\, and people who are open to change and learning and being in a community without judgement. Pure Hearts\, I feel this at Well For the Journey and look forward to connecting more and sharing and learning through sound and the plants.

SUMMARY:Introduction to Focused Music Imagery: A Journey of Discovery Through Music and Image (In-Person Program)
DESCRIPTION:Images—like those that arise in dreams—can help us make sense of experiences that are difficult to put into words. Focused Music Imagery (FMI) is often described as “dreaming to music while awake.” Through guided listening\, imagery\, drawing/writing\, and reflection\, participants are invited to discover personal meaning and connection within their own inner experience. \nJoin Meagan Hughes\, a Licensed Professional Music Therapist\, as she introduces the foundations of FMI at the Well. This program blends information-sharing with a guided\, experiential session\, offering participants a first-hand glimpse into how music and imagery can work together to support insight\, emotional awareness\, and personal growth. \nThe session will begin with an invitation to choose an image from those provided that resonates with you. The chosen image and your associations with that image will serve as a gentle focus for the experience. After an overview of FMI\, Meagan will guide the group into a brief relaxation supported by carefully selected music. In a relaxed state and with a chosen focus in mind\, you will be invited to notice your body\, emotions\, and any images that arise—whether visual\, sensory\, or felt. After several minutes of imaging\, you will be invited to write or draw what comes to you and then reflect together as a group. \nFMI is an active and intentional practice. While music alone can soothe and relax\, FMI holds broader possibilities\, inviting participants to explore what is most needed in this moment and helping us connect with the emotional and intuitive parts of ourselves that arise naturally through experiences with music and imagery. \nNo musical or artistic experience is needed. This program is open to anyone interested in creative self-exploration and the transformational possibilities of music. Simply bring your curiosity and the open ears of your heart. To learn more about FMI\, visit Meagan’s website at: https://www.musicalmethodsmt.com/. \nDATE: Friday\, June 19\, 2026 \nTIME: 10:00 – 11:30 AM \nCOST: $35 \nLOCATION: Well for the Journey – 120 W. Seminary Ave\, Lutherville-Timonium\, MD 21093 \nREGISTRATION for this program is required and will close on 6/15/26. Please register early for planning purposes. Thank you!  REGISTER HERE. \nIMPORTANT: You will receive an email from programming@wellforthejourney.org at least 24 hours in advance of the start of your program. SUMMARY:In the Company of Francis of Assisi: A Men’s Retreat at Well for the Journey (In-Person Program)
DESCRIPTION:It happens to be one of the romantic ironies of the Middle Ages that one of the most celebrated saints of his day was one who most wanted to be forgotten. Francis of Assisi stripped himself of his fine clothes\, put on a coarse and patched robe\, eschewed the wealth of his family\, and abandoned social status to live with and like the beggars. Rather than earning the ridicule and ostracization accorded to the beggars of his day\, however\, his followers became so numerous that the church asked him to form an order\, one that has produced many other saints and that perdures to this day. \nFrancis was not a theologian or scholar of any kind. It is also well known that he was not a priest. And\, although some biographers maintain that he may have been ordained a deacon\, the earliest ones do not mention it and there is no record of his ordination. He authored no theological or spiritual treatises. Yet the passion and depth of his love for God\, and the experience he had of God’s presence in people and all of God’s creation\, is legendary even in the 21st century. It is available to us today. \nThe focus of this day of retreat will not be to learn facts about St. Francis\, or about God for that matter. It will be to meditate with Francis\, to invite him to join us in our meditation\, and to experience God’s presence and love the way he did. The day will include brief presentations\, time for silence and reflection\, and opportunities to share with other men on the journey. If that intrigues you\, come join us for a day with St. Francis of Assisi. \nPlease bring a bag lunch. Snacks and beverages will be available. \nDATE: Saturday\, June 27\, 2026 \nTIME: 9:30 AM – 4:00 PM \nCOST: Please choose the option that works best for you! (see registration link for options.) \nLOCATION: Well for the Journey – 120 W. Seminary Ave\, Lutherville-Timonium\, MD 21093 \nREGISTRATION is required; please register here. \nIMPORTANT: You will receive an email from programming@wellforthejourney.org at least 24 hours in advance of the start of your program. Please be sure you have received and read this email a minimum of 24 hours in advance of the start of the program. Thank you! \nFACILITATOR: Frank Laws \nFACILITATOR BIO: \nFrank Laws is a husband (Duffy’s husband of 54 years)\, father of four and grandfather of eight. He retired from the full-time practice of law in 2025\, which was preceded by three years of service in the U.S. Army (1971 – 1974) as a Chinese linguist and five years as a patrol officer in the Baltimore Police Department. In 1989 he confirmed a call to permanent diaconate in the Roman Catholic Church through the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius and\, preceding his current status as being on voluntary leave of absence\, served in parish ministry and on the deacon formation program\, including participation in St. Mary’s Seminary’s continuing formation program\, and the deacon life and ministry board. \nThrough contemplative practice for forty years\, Frank has a deep\, abiding sense of God’s presence in and through every person and everything God has created\, as well as God’s passionate desire to share that relationship with everyone. In addition to participating in several programs at the Well\, he has led retreats on Franciscan spirituality and God’s extravagant love\, as well as participating in the formation and leadership of small groups to enable others to develop and experience that relationship with the divine. He is an avid outdoorsman\, alpine mountaineer (in his younger years)\, ice climber\, and hiker. He currently serves as a volunteer with groups providing comfort and assistance to those whose lives have been disrupted by deportation.

SUMMARY:Meditative Movement as a Path for Holy Listening (In-Person Program)
DESCRIPTION:“Loved this. It was such a perfect amount of people\, so informative and doable\, not overwhelming\, simple offerings.” – A Participant \n“I loved Beth’s program just as it was.” – Diane Leiner \n“The day was beautiful\, I wouldn’t change a thing!” – Duffy \n“A gentle day of heart-filled presence. Nothing needed to be changed or improved.” – A Participant \n“This is definitely one of the best programs I’ve taken part in. Beth was well-prepared\, knew her subject and communicated extremely well. She was welcoming and allowed plenty of time for us to get to know one another. We experienced the perfect combination of facilitator\, topic and participants. It was a deeply meaningful afternoon for me and\, by all accounts\, for everyone present. Please encourage Beth to facilitate more programs!” – Kathy Shaw \n**************************************************************************************************** \nWe are delighted to welcome back Spiritual Companion and Retreat Facilitator\, Beth Wood-Roig\, for another session of Meditative Movement as a Path for Holy Listening. \nSpiritual traditions throughout the ages have understood that our bodies are truly wonderful sources for deep and holy listening. When we are tuned into and listening deeply to our physical bodies\, we connect with our holy source\, however that is defined for each of us. But in these chaotic and stressful times\, it is sometimes easy to miss\, forget or even ignore the messages our bodies are sending that signal something is out of balance. Learning to listen again and how to respond to these messages are important skills for all of us to practice. During our day together\, we will explore various forms of movement\, sometimes meditative\, sometimes silly\, hopefully fun\, and ever surprising\, to help us hone our listening and responding skills with our bodies. \nThere will also be time and space for personal contemplation and practice\, as well as group reflection and sharing. Weather permitting\, we may spend some time outside at the beautiful Well property so please dress appropriately. \nNo prior experience is needed\, just basic mobility. All movements can be modified for any fitness level. Please don’t hesitate! This program is limited to 10 participants. \nDATE: Sunday\, July 12\, 2026 \nTIME: 1:00 – 5:00 PM \nCOST: $55 \nLOCATION: Well for the Journey – 120 W. Seminary Ave\, Lutherville-Timonium\, MD 21093 \nREGISTRATION is required and will close on Monday\, July 6.  Please register early!  REGISTER HERE. \nIMPORTANT: You will receive an email from programming@wellforthejourney.org at least 24 hours in advance of the start of your program. Please be sure you have received and read this email a minimum of 24 hours in advance of the start of the program. Thank you! \nFACILITATOR: Beth Wood-Roig \nFACILITATOR BIO: \nBeth’s background includes many years leading contemplative retreats\, small group facilitation and spiritual companioning. She believes that we each experience the Divine in our own unique way. Her sense of the One is that of loving Presence\, holding us gently through all of life\, the joys\, surprises\, sorrows\, uncertainties\, worries\, fears\, and assurances. Her faith background is Unitarian Universalist\, with Christian and Buddhist leanings\, and she often finds spiritual grounding in body prayer and nature.

SUMMARY:An Ancient & Inspiring Incense-Making Ritual: A Bridge Between the Material & Spiritual Worlds (In-Person Program)
DESCRIPTION:“Jenny’s workshop was a quietly profound experience – insightful\, heartfelt\, and deeply encouraging. She guided us with a blend of wisdom\, passion\, love\, and humor that made the afternoon feel both magical and grounding. Her connection to the natural world awakened our senses and invited us into a shared appreciation for nature\, its gifts\, and one another. It was a beautiful\, nourishing way to spend time\, engaging with material that left a lasting impression.” – Laura Lindamore \n\nSince ancient times\, humans in many cultures and faith traditions have burned sacred plants as a way of honoring the invisible—allowing fragrant smoke to carry prayers and messages to the ancestors\, while inviting deep peace and calmness into meditation and prayer practices. \nJoin herbalist Jenny Ehrhardt\, aka “The Herb Lady\,” for a deeply experiential afternoon rooted in plant wisdom\, ritual\, and creative presence. Known for her Sound Baths at the Well\, Jenny brings a grounded and heart-centered approach to working with the natural world in all of her offerings. \nIn this workshop\, Jenny will again share her love of plants and rituals as she leads participants in the ancient act of incense making. Using raw\, local plant material that is thriving in this season\, participants will create incense cones in alignment with the energies of the earth and cosmos. \nThe gathering will begin with a short\, guided meditation to settle into the rhythms of creating for oneself while in community. Jenny will provide a brief history about incense\, the varieties that exist\, and why incense is used across many cultures and ceremonies\, with a specific focus on the properties of the selected seasonal plants. \nParticipants will then create their own incense from these special plant materials while learning several methods for burning them as part of their meditation practice. Participants will leave with their handmade incense\, a special herbal blend\, and a charcoal circle for use at home. \nAll materials are provided for this special afternoon of creativity and community. This program previously sold out in just a few days! Please register early to assure your seat. \nDATE: Sunday\, July 19\, 2026 \nTIME: 1:30 – 3:30 PM \nCOST: $90 \nREGISTRATION is required; please register here. \nLOCATION: Well for the Journey – 120 W. Please be sure you have received and read this email a minimum of 24 hours in advance of the start of the program. Thank you! \nFACILITATOR: Jenny Ehrhardt \nFACILITATOR BIO: \nOver the last 35 years my heart has been engaged with plants of all kinds. Even as a child we always had a huge garden. We grew everything. As my Dad shifted to loving roses and all flowers\, I know that just stayed with me. \nI feel so honored and humbled to work with the plants. I worked for a small flower farmer\, a landscaping company\, and a service farm where everything we grew went directly to the Maryland Food Bank and other kitchens throughout Baltimore. I then worked for a Naturopathic Doctor and began to learn how to process plants into medicine and honestly have not looked back. For 15 years I worked at farmers markets and festivals selling products that I created for 10 of those years. I had my very own Apothecary in Hampden\, serving my community with affordable herbal remedies and also offering a safe space for people to gather and learn. \nIt is very important to me to meet people where they are on this herbal plant walk. It is a remembering\, an awakening to what our bodies and hearts already know if we listen closely to ourselves and keep it very simple. Those earlier years were very full and somewhat hectic. Today I find I am so grateful to be able to slow down and watch the wonder on people’s faces when they start to remember plants and the memories that begin to rise up.

SUMMARY:Letters of Our Lives: A Deep Dive into "The Correspondent" (In-Person Program)
DESCRIPTION:If you were asked to sit down and write a letter to someone important in your life\, to whom would you address it? A dear friend? A former teacher? A favorite author? Someone you need to forgive–or need forgiveness from? \nThe Correspondent by Virginia Evans is a novel told entirely through letters composed by Sybil Van Antwerp\, a stubborn\, 73-year-old retired lawyer living alone in Maryland. In Sybil’s letters to friends\, loved ones and even strangers\, she explores themes of suffering\, forgiveness\, secrecy\, family and connection. Evans describes Sybil as a person who “has survived trauma\, grief\, and lost love. She keeps her secrets close and edits her pain. The letters are so deliciously crafted\, Sybil’s life itself becomes a work of art.” Sybil believes “the letters one sends out into the world\, the letters received back in turn\, are like the pieces of a magnificent puzzle…each letter means something.” \nIn this program\, participants will explore Sybil’s life and the variety of characters in the novel with whom she corresponds. We will make personal connections to the novel by writing our own series of letters to people who have impacted our lives. \nPlease Note: Reading the book is essential to the program and should be read in advance of the gathering. You will enjoy it! \nDATE: Thursday\, July 23\, 2026 \nTIME: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM \nCOST: $40 \nLOCATION: Well for the Journey – 120 W. SUMMARY:Honoring the Gifts of Summer -- A Sacred Circle Dance Gathering for Women (In-Person Program)
DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to welcome back Lisa Bardack\, Sacred Circle Dance Facilitator\, for another sacred circle dance gathering at the Well! These intimate sessions have become a tradition at the Well to mark the turning of the seasons with soulful movement and connection\, bringing a beautiful energy that continues to resonate throughout the Well long after the music fades. \nSacred circle dance is a collective dance experience that draws from ancient and traditional folk dances\, many from Eastern Europe and the Balkans. Dancing to wonderful music and rhythms\, we join the circle of grandmothers who initiated these dances and passed them on. Dancing in their footsteps\, we experience a sense of something greater than ourselves\, a continuum of which we are a sacred part. The dances connect us to the rhythm of the seasons\, evoking joy\, peace\, insight\, healing and a deep sense of community and interconnection with each other and all life. \nIn Traditional Chinese Medicine\, the element associated with Summer is Fire\, and joy is the emotion of the Fire element. In this gathering\, we will dance to honor the gifts of Summer\, this active season of the heart. Through dance\, we will remind ourselves of the importance of nurturing the heart and cultivating love for ourselves and the world around us. We will dance to honor summer’s abundance and cultivate an expansive presence to the beauty and wonder that surrounds us. We will cultivate inner radiance\, our inner fire\, while dancing more meditative dances to bring necessary balance in these challenging times. \nNo dance experience is required (just basic mobility and coordination)\, as the dances are simple to moderately easy\, and the step sequences repetitive. Lisa will gently guide us in the dance steps and share meaningful information on the origins of each dance. You can dance in bare feet\, socks\, or soft soled shoes. \nIf you love to dance\, or perhaps love the idea of sacred dance and are curious to learn more\, come and enjoy a beautiful afternoon of movement meditation in the safe and nurturing environment that is the Well! Registration is limited to 8 participants\, so please don’t delay! \nTo learn more about Sacred Circle Dance and Lisa\, please visit Lisa’s website. \nDATE: Saturday\, July 25\, 2026 \nTIME: 2:00 – 4:00 PM \nCOST: $40 \nLOCATION: Well for the Journey – 120 W. Seminary Ave\, Lutherville-Timonium\, MD 21093 \nREGISTRATION is required; please REGISTER HERE. \nIMPORTANT: You will receive an email from programming@wellforthejourney.org at least 24 hours in advance of the start of your program. It was in 1997 that she first experienced Sacred Circle Dance and fell in love with this collective experience of dancing ancient and traditional steps to wonderful music from around the world. She has studied Sacred Circle Dance for over 15 years through classes and conferences nationally and internationally and has been teaching since 2008. In addition to her background in dance\, Lisa has also studied yoga\, tai chi\, qigong\, NIA\, and other forms of dance\, cultivating a seasoned understanding of body movement as an instrument for joy\, healing\, and wisdom.

SUMMARY:Introspective Breathwork™: A Journey of Integration Through the Breath (In-Person Program)
DESCRIPTION:“This experience felt like a single thread woven through many spiritual traditions\, each one coloring it differently but pulling on the same source. Amy taught me to recognize and follow that thread inward and discover it’s been connected to my own center all along. In essence\, the breath is a quiet key that unlocks the inner room.” – Laura L \nIntrospective Breathwork™\, utilizing conscious connected breathwork\, is a healing\, therapeutic modality which invites us into deeper relationship with ourselves. Breath is a bridge between our physical life and consciousness\, and its intentional\, mindful practice can ease stress and heal dysregulation in our nervous system\, bringing us to a greater degree of integrated peace\, sense of wholeness\, embodied presence\, and self-insight. \nJoin Certified Introspective Breathwork™ Facilitator\, Amy Kulesa\, for a group session of conscious connected breathwork. Sometimes called “circular breathing\,” conscious connected breathwork involves deep\, diaphragmatic inhalations followed by natural\, unforced exhalation\, without a pause at the top and bottom of the breath. After a brief introduction to the history and practice of breathwork\, participants will breathe this way for an hour\, lying down on a mat or cushion\, to the accompaniment of ambient music. When breathing in this way\, you are in conscious control at all times of your own experience and can slow down or quicken your breath at any time\, pause to get a drink or use the restroom. Amy will offer support through compassionate and soulful presence and\, when appropriate\, through verbal prompts or gentle touch (with your permission). Following the breathwork practice\, there will be an integrative time of journaling\, stretching\, walking – whatever is helpful to you – to process the experience more fully and then a time of voluntary sharing as a group. \nThe breath’s integrative benefits are felt as we come into contact through deep presence to ourselves with an embodied experience of our emotions\, memories\, physical tensions\, and spiritual dimensions. This can allow us to behold ourselves in an expanded way within an enlarged\, more cosmic field of love and unitive consciousness. Conscious connected breathwork can gently support us in healing from stress\, the everyday tensions of our lives\, and deeper-seated\, unresolved effects from trauma. The environment for an Introspective Breathwork™ session is a nurturing\, safe space for self-exploration and coming into a deepened awareness of transcendent Love. Each session and each person’s experience is unique\, as the breath facilitates movement of emotional energy up and through the body into consciousness and release\, and supports our sense of inner unity. \nStudies have found conscious connected breathwork to be very safe-rarely\, if ever\, do people experience adverse effects. Participants who are pregnant\, have a cardiac condition\, or other medical conditions such as bi-polar disorder or epilepsy\, need to be aware that this activating breath practice affects the entire body’s systems. Participants are encouraged to discuss their interest in the program with their healthcare provider. All participants will be required to sign a release form after registration and return it to Amy for review. \nPLEASE NOTE: This program is being held in the Upper Room at the Well. Participants will need to walk up the stairs to the 3rd Floor. Please register early! Registration is limited to 9 people so that Amy can give personal attention to each participant. \nDATE: Saturday\, August 1\, 2026 \nTIME: 1:00 – 3:30 PM \nCOST: $55 \nLOCATION: Well for the Journey – 120 W. Seminary Ave\, Lutherville-Timonium\, MD 21093 \nREGISTRATION is required; please register here. \nIMPORTANT: You will receive an email from programming@wellforthejourney.org at least 24 hours in advance of the start of your program. SUMMARY:Nourishing the Writer's Soul - A Retreat Day for Writers at Kything Croft (In-Person Program\, Millers\, MD)
DESCRIPTION:A writer is someone who uses words to express ideas\, tell stories\, and convey meaning. Writers observe the world around them—and within them—and translate thoughts\, emotions\, and experiences into written form. Their writing may take many shapes: personal journaling\, spiritual reflection\, poetry\, essays\, blogs\, books\, articles\, and so much more. The possibilities are endless! \nAt the Well\, we recognize that writers need rest and renewal on the writing journey. Amy Schmaljohn\, gifted retreat leader and writer\, has been facilitating a monthly Writers’ Circle for the past year at the Well. We are delighted to share that Amy is offering this soul nourishing retreat for writers at Kything Croft\, a beautiful woodland property in northern Baltimore County that Amy and her husband care for deeply and reverently. With Amy’s gentle and inspiring guidance\, we’ll slow down and enjoy time for rest\, reflection and companionship in this beautiful setting with fellow writers on the journey. We’ll recharge our creative energies. We’ll share some experiences from our lives and practice as writers.

SUMMARY:Honoring Late Summer\, Preparing for Fall - A Sacred Circle Dance Gathering for Women (In-Person Program)
\nIn Traditional Chinese Medicine\, Earth is the element associated with the season of late summer. As we move from the more yang/outward energy of summer toward the more yin/inward energy of fall\, the Earth provides us with the nourishment and grounding we need to help with this seasonal transition. In this circle dance gathering\, we will dance to honor Earth’s abundance\, generosity\, and support. As the fall equinox nears\, we’ll explore the dance between being and doing in an often busy season and acknowledge the need to let go of that which no longer serves us to create space for the new. \nDATE: Saturday\, September 12\, 2026 \nTIME: 2:00 – 4:00 PM \nCOST: $40 \nLOCATION: Well for the Journey – 120 W. Seminary Ave\, Lutherville-Timonium\, MD 21093 \nREGISTRATION is required; please REGISTER HERE. \nIMPORTANT: You will receive an email from programming@wellforthejourney.org at least 24 hours in advance of the start of your program. This email will include details to help you prepare for your program including any pertinent handouts\, location information\, and the ZOOM link for online programs. Thank you! \nFACILITATOR: Lisa Bardack \nFACILITATOR BIO: \nLisa Bardack\, Sacred Circle Dance facilitator\, has been dancing most of her life\, feeling a deep sense of authenticity with this art form. She has studied Sacred Circle Dance for over 15 years through classes and conferences nationally and internationally and has been teaching since 2008.
