SUMMARY:Qi Gong for Wellbeing of Body\, Mind\, and Spirit (In-Person Program)
DESCRIPTION:Qi Gong is an ancient Chinese healing practice that combines focused breathing\, gentle movement\, and meditation to promote wellbeing of body\, mind\, and spirit. “Qi” is our “life force energy” and “Gong” is the skill or practice of using that energy. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)\, poor health is connected to stagnant energy in the body. Qi Gong is used to keep Qi balanced and flowing – especially during times of stress\, illness\, or these early days of Spring when\, like the plants pushing through still cold soil\, we can push through our obstacles to emerge as our own true selves. \nAs our Qi begins to flow more freely\, we can move from a stuck feeling to a more open one. We can notice and acknowledge emotions as they arise and even choose to release them\, kind of like peeling away the layers of an onion to get to the core – the core of who we are\, minus all the layers of our lives\, past and present\, which can compromise our health and well-being. We can make room for centeredness\, positive connection\, thoughtful communication\, vitality\, and our growth as human beings on this beautiful planet. \nJoin experienced Qi Gong Instructor and Health Advocate\, Mindie Flamholz\, to learn the simple breathing techniques and gentle movements of Qi Gong. Qi Gong can be done standing\, seated\, in a wheelchair\, or in bed. Movements can be modified and even imagined! I can imagine swimming in a lake without being there! All you need is an open and curious mindset and a willingness to try. \nThis program will be held outside at the Well. In the event of inclement weather\, the program will move inside. \nDATES: Fridays\, 4/26\, 5/3\, 5/10\, 5/17/2024\n\nTIME: 1:00 – 2:30 PM ET\n\nCOST: $15 per session or $55 for all 4 sessions\n\nLOCATION: Well for the Journey – 120 W. Seminary Ave\, Lutherville-Timonium\, MD 21093 \nREGISTRATION is required; please register here. \nCANCELLATION POLICY: Please read our cancellation policy\, here. \nPREPARING FOR YOUR PROGRAM:\nYou will receive an email from lorie@wellforthejourney.org at least 2 days in advance of the start of your program. This email will include details to help you prepare for your program including any pertinent handouts\, location information\, and the Zoom Link for online programs. Please be sure you have received and read this email a minimum of 24 hours in advance of the start of the program. If you are unable to find the email\, please check your SPAM or JUNK email folders. Thank you!\n\nFACILITATOR: Mindie Flamholz\n\nFACILITATOR BIO:\nMindie loves the practice of Qi Gong\, especially outside\, no matter the season. For her\, the practice reminds her that as reflected outside in Nature\, so is inside each of us. In her words — standing beneath a tree as its leaves fall\, inhaling cold\, crisp winter air\, loosening warming soil with my fingers\, moving in water with the motion of the waves… I breathe and exchange life giving forces with all around me. What a gift ! \nIn her experiences of learning Qi Gong\, Mindie has trained with Chan Zhang\, Mantak Chia\, Dr. Kevin Chen\, and Lee Holden among others\, while her teaching experiences have engaged and supported school children\, women who have been abused\, been previously incarcerated\, suffered the loss of children\, or been diagnosed with cancer\, in addition to stroke survivors\, stressed-out hospital staff\, physical therapists\, individuals in recovery\, seniors in residential communities\, and more. Mindie continues to share the benefits of Qi Gong with many others and to grow in her own body\, mind\, and spirit. \nMindie also loves The Well! She finds that each program she has taken has broadened her and made her feel more connected to herself and others.
