DESCRIPTION:Think songwriting is just for musicians? Think again! \nSongwriting is also a creative and spiritual practice open to everyone. At our center is the image of the Divine\, who creates. When we engage in songwriting\, we tap into that creative spirit within ourselves. This workshop invites you to explore songwriting as a pathway to self-expression\, health\, and spiritual wellness. \nWriting a song as creative practice doesn’t have to be elusive! It’s something most people—artists and “non-artists” alike—have the capacity for if given a glimpse at how to start\, what tools might help\, and permission to try. \nBaltimore-based performing songwriter and educator\, Brody Bond\, invites you to take a look at his process for writing songs. Brody will offer exercises\, examples\, suggestions\, and demonstrations throughout this highly interactive and enjoyable workshop. In the intimacy of a small group\, and with an encouraging guide by your side\, you will explore topics such as the promise and possibility of writing a song\, elements of a song\, methods and ideas for getting started\, helpful tools and tips\, and—perhaps most importantly—you will discover the courage to write a song (or to at least take the first steps!). \nNo experience is necessary! Bring your curiosity and listen for the notes already singing within you. \nRegistration is limited and closes early for this special workshop.
