SUMMARY:The Stuff of Stars: A Praying in Color Meditation (Online Program)
DESCRIPTION:“We are stars wrapped in skin. The light you are seeking has always been within.” – Rumi \nEvery year on a designated Wednesday in late winter\, many in the Western Christian tradition are accustomed to hearing the words\, “Remember that you are dust\, and to dust you shall return.” These words are accompanied by the placement of ashes on one’s forehead as a reminder of our mortality as the season of Lent and preparation for Easter begin. \nScience has now proven what our native ancestors and wise philosophers have always known – we are not just any old dust; we are the dust of stars. Nearly all the elements that comprise our bodies\, and all of creation\, are from stars in the far reaches of the universe. We are indeed all connected. We are all one. \nThis Ash Wednesday\, you are invited to join us in a contemplative meditation as we ponder the Divine Mystery of our oneness with the stars\, one another\, and all of creation. We will engage with prose and poetry and then spend unhurried time in reflection and response using the spiritual practice of Praying in Color. There will also be an opportunity to share our reflections with one another in sacred community as we feel led. \nPraying in Color is simply doodling with color as a way of helping to focus our wandering minds and capture insights and invitations during prayer or mindfulness meditation. No prior experience or artistic skills are required! All you need is white paper and colorful writing utensils such as colored pencils\, markers\, crayons\, or pens. Lorie will guide every step of this simple and meaningful spiritual practice. \nDATE: Wednesday\, March 5\, 2025 \nTIME: 7:00 – 8:30 PM ET \nCOST: $20 \nLOCATION: ZOOM \nREGISTRATION is required; please register here. \nCANCELLATION / REFUND POLICY: Please read our policy\, here. \nIMPORTANT: You will receive an email from programming@wellforthejourney.org at least 24 hours in advance of the start of your program. If you are unable to find the email\, please check your SPAM or JUNK email folders. This email will include details to help you prepare for your program including any pertinent handouts\, location information\, and the ZOOM link for online programs. Please be sure you have received and read this email a minimum of 24 hours in advance of the start of the program. Thank you! \nFACILITATOR: Lorie Conway \nFACILITATOR BIO: \nLorie has a passion for deep listening and accompanying others on their spiritual journeys through spiritual direction\, small groups\, and retreats.
