Eating with a Spiritual Compass: Mindful Eating

How can we find what is sublime in our everyday encounter with food? Many of us have lost our spiritual connection to food. Mindful eating is about experiencing food more intensely – especially the pleasure of it. Research shows that eating with an awareness of the mystery of life in food and connecting with it via mindfulness, appreciation, and loving consciousness may actually enhance our physical health.
Drawing from the research on nutrition and mindfulness, we will learn how to eat mindfully, and how to experience food as both social nourishment and spiritual nourishment. Through small group discussions, journaling, and experiential exercises, we will rediscover the holiness in one of the most pleasurable things we do daily as human beings.
